Term 2 Week 9 of 11
Friday, 20th June 2025
Message from the Principal
Dear parents and carers,
Over the last weeks I have been writing about our PBL refresh and our passion for your children to come to a safe, calm and respectful school by strengthening our students to be respectful, responsible and resilient.
In the newsletters I have discussed our:
Expected ways of behaving at Resurrection
How we teach our students the expected behaviours in class, especially through social stories
Our school rules
What happens if rules are not followed (what are the consequences)
Ways of encouraging our students to follow our expected ways of behaving
One of the things that I think we can improve to support the strengthening of a calm school is modifications to the Year Prep and Year 1/2 classrooms. This has been supported by conversations with staff and parents over my short time at the school. Over this holiday period the Year Prep rooms will get a refurbish. We will be using glass some frosted and some open to create three individual classrooms that have walls and their own door. This will help our prep students with their focus and help to create a calmer environment. We are also in the planning stage of making similar changes to the Year 1/2 space. This space will be l arger job and I will keep you updated on a timeline.
We are having interviews with potential Prep student’s families next week and are hoping to settle our prep classes soon. If there are any families that have a child commencing prep next year you must fill in an enrolment form and hand it to the office at your earliest convenience to guarantee your child’s spot.
Best wishes,
Deputy Principal: Learning & Organisation

We kindly ask you to respond to the operoo form by Tuesday 24th June to help us with planning for this memorable event.
We look forward to sharing this special day with our cherished grandparents and families. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
Get ready to unleash your creativity and show off your wildest hairstyles! On Friday 27th June, we're celebrating Crazy Hair Day, and we can't wait to see everyone's fun and wacky hairdos.
To take part, all students are encouraged to come to school with their craziest hair creations. It could be bright colours, funky styles, or even some surprising accessories—the wilder, the better!
The students are also required to wear casual clothes!
This event is also a gold coin donation.
Grade 5 Dance Battle!!!
Next Friday all our Grade 5 students will be presenting a 'Dance Battle' performance featuring all students in 5A, 5B & 5C. Each class will perform a choreographed dance routine that they have put together during Performing Arts lessons this term.
All classes from Grades Prep, 1, 2, 3 & 4 will be attending the event. Parents are also most welcome to come along to the performance and cheer on the Grade 5 students! Please note that no video filming or photography of the event is permitted. The school will be taking some photos of the event using the school camera to share with families in the newsletter and on Seesaw.
On the day, Grade 5 students are asked to bring to school a colourful t-shirt, long pants (comfortable for dancing) and runners to change into just before the performance begins.
The Dance Battlewill be held in the school hall from 12.30pm-1.15pm and will be judged by using an 'applause meter' app which measures the volume of an audience's applause after a performance. The winning class will be announced at the end of all of the performances, with the winning class receiving a trophy to display in their classroom!!!
A waterfall is formed when water flows from hard rock to soft rock, they are formed in the upper course of a river, Waterfalls can be divided into three courses- the upper course, middle course and the lower course. In this text, I will explain how waterfalls are made!
Firstly, when the water flows on top of the hard rock the hard rock starts to soften and breaks down, which creates an opening and is called erosion.
Secondly, when there's an opening the water from the river falls through a plunge pool, which creates a waterfall.
Finally, when it becomes a beautiful waterfall, it will go into other channels, like streams and even other rivers.
In conclusion, waterfalls are a beautiful body of water that can really help people learn from a great, calm, beautifully rushing stream of water going down hill.

SUNDAY GOSPEL
This Sunday’s reading is from the Holy Gospel according to Luke 9:11-17
They all ate and were filled.
Jesus made the crowds welcome and talked to them about the kingdom of God; and he cured those who were in need of healing.
It was late afternoon when the Twelve came to him and said, ‘Send the people away, and they can go to the villages and farms round about to find lodging and food; for we are in a lonely place here.’ He replied, ‘Give them something to eat yourselves.’ But they said, ‘We have no more than five loaves and two fish, unless we are to go ourselves and buy food for all these people.’ For there were about five thousand men. But he said to his disciples, ‘Get them to sit down in parties of about fifty.’ They did so and made them all sit down. Then he took the five loaves and the two fish, raised his eyes to heaven, and said the blessing over them; then he broke them and handed them to his disciples to distribute among the crowd. They all ate as much as they wanted, and when the scraps remaining were collected they filled twelve baskets.
Gospel Reflection
The feast of the Body and Blood of Christ celebrates the central celebration of Christianity – the Eucharist. All three readings relate to this Eucharistic theme. In the second reading, we have the first written account of the Last Supper and what came to be seen as Jesus instigating the Eucharist. Paul’s account, written well before the gospels, was entrenched in the tradition by the time the gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke echoed these words of Jesus at the Last Supper. Of course, it is these same words that are spoken by the priest at the consecration in the Eucharistic Prayer each Mass. The words used today are the very same words that have been used in the Church for two millennia.
Rather than a gospel account of the Last Supper to celebrate the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ, we are presented with what is widely regarded as another ‘eucharistic’ story from the gospel of Luke. The feeding of the five thousand with five loaves and two fish is regarded as a eucharistic story because it was a clear example of God’s presence in a miraculous meal. All of the meal stories in the gospel of Luke are instructive for the audience. Whenever the gospel writer refers to a meal, the meal is used to teach about the reign of God. The gospel writer uses meals to demonstrate who is welcome in the reign of God. Like in today’s gospel, the author of Luke’s gospel was keen to show that the reign of God is available to anyone who wishes to be a part of it. The reign of God is inclusive and welcoming; no one will be turned away.
Historical Context - Table fellowship
In 1st Century Palestine, who you shared a meal with was a very political act. Your status in society was judged by who you kept company with and particularly with whom you shared food. At times, Jesus broke these rules and practised open table fellowship – sharing meals with people of all stations in life and often being criticised for his actions by the Scribes and Pharisees. Part of Jesus’ open table fellowship meant that he also ate with dignitaries and religious leaders, but he used these occasions to remind them of the inclusive message of God that they were ignoring.
Gospel focus - Give them something yourselves
In the gospel, the disciples encourage Jesus to send the crowds away to find food for themselves. Jesus tells the disciples, “Give them something to eat yourselves.” This is a challenge and a test of the disciples – a chance for them to be like Jesus. He calls them to act with compassion and do what he would do to feed the people. But the disciples fail to grasp either his meaning or the opportunity and the miracle is left to Jesus. Jesus believed that they could feed the people if they tried but the disciples didn’t have that same faith in themselves.

Uganda Mission Trip
We are pleased to share that Fr Gerard, Melanie, Rachael, Neil, Gretel, Joe, and Lina will be traveling to Uganda this July. This journey provides a special opportunity to meet the children we sponsor, connect with their families, and collaborate with local community groups to offer support and encouragement.
Each traveler will be covering their own expenses for this trip, ensuring that all contributions go directly toward supporting the communities we are visiting.
Our visit continues our parish’s commitment to fostering relationships and providing assistance where it is most needed. Throughout our time in Uganda, we will engage with the children, parents, and broader community to strengthen connections and make a meaningful impact.
We ask for your prayers as we embark on this important mission. May our travels be safe, our efforts be fruitful, and our presence bring hope and joy to those we meet.
