STUDENT WELLBEING: CHILD SAFETY

At Resurrection Primary School, we actively encourage all students to express their views openly and to feel safe sharing what matters to them. We teach students how to recognise when they feel unsafe and empower them to identify, discuss, and report any concerns. We listen carefully to concerns raised by students, parents, or carers and take appropriate action.

Our curriculum is designed to build students’ knowledge and skills about safety, rights to information, participation, and personal wellbeing. Teaching approaches prioritise student agency and voice, ensuring that children are engaged in a meaningful and respectful way. We also provide access to age-appropriate sexual abuse prevention programs and related information.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Standards of behaviour for all students

  • Healthy and respectful relationships, including education on sexuality

  • Resilience development

  • Child abuse awareness and prevention

Our curriculum planning outlines how we:

  • Inform students of their rights to safety, information, and participation

  • Encourage peer support and friendship to reduce isolation and promote safety

  • Train staff and volunteers to recognise signs of harm and to support children’s voices

  • Foster a school culture responsive to student input and participation

  • Offer ongoing opportunities for students to contribute and build confidence

Teachers also deliver The Resilience Project fortnightly to support student wellbeing.
