LEARNING & TEACHING: KNOWLEDGE RICH CURRICULUM
At Resurrection, we believe that learning is most powerful when it is active, purposeful, and connected to the real world. Through our Knowledge Rich Curriculum, students are encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, make connections, and develop a deep understanding of the world around them.
What Is Knowledge Rich Curriculum?
It is a student-centred approach that promotes curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of learning. It begins with students' wonderings and builds on their prior knowledge while also guiding them toward new understandings.
Students are supported to:
Ask meaningful questions
Investigate problems or topics in depth
Collaborate with peers and teachers
Explore different perspectives
Present and reflect on their learning
At Resurrection, we guide inquiry through a concept-based framework that helps students see patterns, make connections across subject areas, and apply their learning in real-world contexts.
Guided by the Victorian Curriculum
While Inquiry is student-driven, it is also carefully planned and aligned with the Victorian Curriculum. Each unit of inquiry incorporates key learning outcomes from areas such as:
Humanities (History, Geography, Civics & Citizenship, Economics)
Science
Health
Technologies
Our teachers design units that are developmentally appropriate, purposeful, and challenging, while also fostering skills such as research, collaboration, communication, problem-solving, and self-management.
The Role of the Teacher
In our Knowledge Rich Curriculum, the teacher acts as a:
Facilitator who supports and scaffolds student thinking
Guide who helps students reflect and make connections
Coach who explicitly teaches the skills and strategies students need to inquire effectively
Teachers use provocations, rich questions, and real-world contexts to spark curiosity and deepen engagement.
Empowering 21st-Century Learners
Knowledge Rich Curriculum prepares students to become:
Critical and creative thinkers
Effective communicators
Independent, reflective learners
Active and informed citizens
At Resurrection, it is not just about covering content—it’s about developing lifelong learners who are curious, capable, and motivated to make a positive difference in the world.
