LEARNING & TEACHING: RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
At Resurrection Primary School, we strive to be a positive, creative, and hope-filled learning community where Catholic values and spirit are shared, and the sacred dignity of each person is nurtured.
Education in Faith: Religious Education
Religious Education is at the heart of learning in a Catholic school. It plays a vital role in nurturing each student's spiritual development by:
Celebrating the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives
Inviting a relationship with God
Encouraging a Christ-like approach to others
As a school and faith community, we—students, staff, and parents—walk together as witnesses to the Good News and the resurrection of Christ.
Our Religious Education curriculum is designed to be meaningful and engaging. We listen to and value students’ personal stories, cultural backgrounds, and worldviews, connecting these to the richness of the Catholic Tradition and the big questions of life.
Key Content Areas in Religious Education:
Jesus and Scripture
Church and Community
God, Religion and Life
Prayer, Liturgy and Sacrament
Morality and Justice
Students are supported to grow in knowledge and understanding, reasoning and responding, and personal and communal engagement. They develop skills to explain, interpret, reflect, and act on their learning.
Prayer Life
Prayer is central to daily life at Resurrection. We make time to pray each day—individually, in classrooms, and as a whole-school community—keeping God at the heart of all we do.
In our multi-faith and culturally diverse setting, we respectfully invite all to prayer, drawing from rich Christian traditions. Our students experience many forms of prayer, including:
Personal and communal prayer
Vocal and silent prayer
Christian Meditation
Liturgical celebrations
These practices nurture spiritual growth and support a personal relationship with God, bridging faith with the realities of contemporary life.
Celebrating Our Faith
The liturgical life of the school is an important expression of our faith. Through Masses, feast days, and seasonal celebrations, students encounter the Holy Spirit at work in their lives, families, parish, and the wider Church.
We celebrate:
The Liturgical Seasons of the Church year
Feast days and significant national events
Class, year level, and whole-school Masses each term
The Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist, and Confirmation annually
Reaching Out: Living the Gospel
Faith in action is a core part of learning at Resurrection. Inspired by the Gospel, we encourage students to serve others selflessly, show compassion, and work for justice and peace in the world.
Our approach is grounded in Catholic Social Teaching, which is based on the truth that every person is made in the image and likeness of God.
The Six Catholic Social Teaching Principles We Embrace:
Human Dignity
Solidarity
Preferential Option for the Poor
Community and the Common Good
Rights and Responsibilities
Stewardship of the Earth’s Resources
We empower students to see themselves as active contributors to a better world, using what they learn to make a real difference.
