Term 2 Week 7 of 11
Friday, 6th June 2025
Message from the Principal
Dear parents and carers,
PBL Refresh
I wanted to continue writing about our upcoming PBL refresh in today's newsletter.
The theme today is about celebrating students who follow the expectations. We know that children respond very well to praise and reward. Once we teach our students about being respectful, resilient and responsible. The next thing is to celebrate when they are doing it. I like to call this “catching children doing the right thing”. This brings a sense of positivity and focus on the correct behaviour and actions.
As you would already know our staff hand out PBL cards for students who are following the rules at our school. We have updated the PBL incentive system to make it more rewarding, immediate and exciting for our students.
Here is a copy:
The yellow boxes can be given by the teachers, and the green boxes are given by leadership team members. Each Wednesday and Thursday Marie D’Orazio and I visit classes to organise the rewards. The mystery gifts have been very popular so far and many students are saving up for the bigger rewards. We get to speak to the students about what they are doing right and celebrate this. These types of rewards are a powerful way to motivate our children and encourage positive behaviour.
First Holy Communions
For the next three weekends our Year Four students will be taking part in their First Holy Communion. These students are in my thoughts and prayers as they embark on this special moment in their sacramental journey. Thanks to our staff who along with me will be there to celebrate this special occasion.
Car Park
We kindly ask for your cooperation in ensuring that our school car park remains a safe and respectful space for everyone. When dropping off and picking up children, please be mindful of others by following the designated parking and drop-off zones, adhering to speed limits, and treating staff and fellow parents with courtesy.
Let's work together to create a positive environment for our students and community. Thank you for your support and understanding!
Best wishes
Deputy Principal: Learning & Organisation

Semester 1 Reports - nForma App
Our wonderful teaching staff are working hard to develop our Semester 1 student reports. Last year, we communicated clearly and frequently that our student reports will be made available online only as of 2025. This means your child will not come home with a paper report, and you can conveniently access the school report via the nForma app when they are made available to you on the last day of Term 2 at 12pm (Friday 4th July).
We have attached a guide on downloading the nForma app and accessing the school report. Please familiarise yourself with this guide so that you can access your child’s school report with ease when they are made available.
Digital reports are very common in most school settings, and we are happy to be able to save paper and have your reports readily available on your personal device for ease of access and reference.
The guide will be attached to our future newsletters each week for your reference.
Please note - reports are not available until Friday 4th July at 12pm

Learning Diversity
Dear Parents and Carers,
I’m looking forward to connecting with families again during our upcoming Parent Support Group (PSG) meetings in Week 8. These meetings are a valuable opportunity to collaborate and support each child’s learning journey.
Personalised Learning Plans (PLPs) will also be printed and sent home shortly. We kindly ask that you review the plan and return a signed copy to the school as soon as possible.
This term, some students who are participating in additional support programs—such as Maths Intervention or MultiLit—will be receiving a Personalised Learning Plan or Adjustment Plan for the first time. These plans outline the targeted strategies being used to support their learning and ensure we are meeting each student’s individual needs.
Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in your child’s education.
Grade 5 Dance Battle!!!
On Friday the 27th of June all our Grade 5 students will be presenting a 'Dance Battle' performance featuring all students in 5A, 5B & 5C. Each class will perform a choreographed dance routine that they have put together during Performing Arts lessons this term.
All classes from Grades Prep, 1, 2, 3 & 4 will be attending the event. Parents are also most welcome to come along to the performance and cheer on the Grade 5 students! Please note that no video filming or photography of the event is permitted. The school will be taking some photos of the event using the school camera to share with families in the newsletter and on Seesaw.
On the day, Grade 5 students are asked to bring to school a colourful t-shirt, long pants (comfortable for dancing) and runners to change into just before the performance begins.
The Dance Battle will be held in the school hall from 12.30pm-1.15pm and will be judged by using an 'applause meter' app which measures the volume of an audience's applause after a performance. The winning class will be announced at the end of all of the performances, with the winning class receiving a trophy to display in their classroom!!!
3B How waterfalls are formed - Literacy Novel Study
How waterfalls are made
A waterfall is formed when water flows from hard rock to soft rock, they are formed in the upper course of a river, Waterfalls can be divided into three courses- the upper course, middle course and the lower course. In this text, I will explain how waterfalls are made!
Firstly, when the water flows on top of the hard rock the hard rock starts to soften and breaks down, which creates an opening and is called erosion.
Secondly, when there's an opening the water from the river falls through a plunge pool, which creates a waterfall.
Finally, when it becomes a beautiful waterfall, it will go into other channels, like streams and even other rivers.
In conclusion, waterfalls are a beautiful body of water that can really help people learn from a great, calm, beautifully rushing stream of water going down hill.

All About Rivers And Waterfalls Made
A river is a natural stream of water of fairly large size flowing in a definite course. This creates a waterfall. Waterfalls are a natural feature where water typically forms a river or stream. Eventually a river flows into another body of water such as the sea. Rivers usually begin in an upland area like the top of a mountain. In this text I am going to explain how waterfalls are formed.
Firstly, waterfalls are formed when some high steep snow or ice starts to melt the water. The water starts when it hits the hard rock. After that, it starts to rain and turns into soft rock, creating an erosion and the water on top of it starts to go downhill. It goes downhill into the plunge pool and finally water starts to go into different areas. These areas are called gorges, the gorges then form a miniature river or stream.
Waterfalls are enchanting. Some waterfalls are crystal white and a very fascinating turquoise blue. Some waterfalls are massive, most of them have rocks near them and they mainly live in forests. Although waterfalls can be dangerous, they are a excellent place to be calm, peaceful, some alone time and a great place to relax and meditate.

SUNDAY GOSPEL
This Sunday’s reading is from the Holy Gospel according to John 10:19-13
As the Father sent me, so I send you: Receive the Holy
Spirit.
In the evening of the first day of the week, the doors were closed in the room where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews. Jesus came and stood among them. He said to them, ‘Peace be with you,’ and showed them his hands and his side. The disciples were filled with joy when they saw the Lord, and he said to them again, ‘Peace be with you.
‘As the Father sent me, so am I sending you.’ After saying this he breathed on them and said:
‘Receive the Holy Spirit. For those whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven; for those whose sins you retain, they are retained.’
Gospel Reflection
The feast of Pentecost celebrates the power of the Holy Spirit coming upon the disciples and energising them to set about their mission of continuing the ministry of Jesus. The gospel reading is one of the post-resurrection appearances by Jesus when he breathed the Holy Spirit upon the disciples. The actual events of that first Pentecost are recorded in the book of Acts and are recalled in this week’s first reading. The use of this post-resurrection gospel account is a reminder that Jesus had already imbued the disciples with the Spirit but, as so often throughout his ministry, they were a bit slow to catch on to the significance of what he had done. It seems that they needed a more tangible experience to jolt them into action and Acts records the very physical experience of the Spirit entering their midst as a roaring wind before settling upon them as tongues of flame. Jesus had breathed the Spirit upon them but it took the roaring wind to make a real impression on the disciples. There are frequent references in the gospels to Jesus being ‘filled with the Spirit’. It is this Spirit with which he was filled that he breathed upon his disciples; it is that same Spirit that we receive sacramentally in Confirmation.
For the weeks following the death of Jesus the disciples had lived in fear and confusion, not fully understanding what had happened and not really knowing what to do. When they realised that the Spirit Jesus had breathed upon them was really present and urging them to action they finally had the courage to begin the mission that Jesus had entrusted to them: to spread the Good News of Jesus and continue to realise his message in the world.
Historical Context - Pentecost
The word Pentecost comes from the Greek for fiftieth day. Pentecost Sunday ends the season of Easter and comes as a Sabbath day after seven weeks of seven days. In Jewish tradition the 50th day after the Passover was celebrated as a blessing of the harvest and rather than the unleavened bread of Passover it was celebrated by leavening the bread. It was for this reason that the disciples were gathered together when they experienced the Holy Spirit empowering them. In Christian tradition, Pentecost is celebrated as the arrival of the Spirit, promised by Jesus, that animated the disciples to spread the gospel of Jesus and gather believers to form what would eventually become the Church.
Have you thought? The Spirit
We can sometimes regard Pentecost as the day the Holy Spirit came into the world. However, the Spirit had long been active in the world before this event. In fact, even the second verse of Genesis Chapter 1 tells us that the Spirit hovered over the waters. The Old Testament is filled with references in which ‘The Spirit of God came upon (him) with power’ and the Spirit was evident at Jesus’ baptism and throughout the gospels. Jesus is frequently described as being ‘filled with the Spirit’. So, from the very beginning of creation the Spirit has moved in the world and continues to energise it today.
Living the Gospel - Come, Holy Spirit
‘Come, Holy Spirit’, or its Latin, Veni Sante Spiritus, has become the basis of countless prayers and hymns over many hundreds of years. To this day, it remains a powerful invocation that can be used in prayer or meditation. Three simple words convey a wealth of meaning. The invitation for the Spirit to ‘Come’ indicates recognition of the need for the Spirit’s intervention and openness to accept the guidance that the Spirit brings. It is a powerful, simple prayer that can be used at the outset of any significant undertaking or whenever you find yourself in need of inspiration.

Jacqui's Story
Last weekend during our Masses, Jacqui shared a deeply personal and inspiring testimony with the congregation—a journey of resilience, trust, and unwavering faith.
After countless challenges and heartbreaks through IVF, Jacqui and Anson made the courageous decision to embrace adoption. The process wasn’t easy, with difficult questions and moments of uncertainty, but through it all, their faith remained their foundation.
Now, they are blessed with four beautiful children, a testament to the power of hope and the plans that unfold when we trust in God’s timing. Their story is a reminder that even in our struggles, love finds a way, and miracles happen in ways we never expect.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." — Jeremiah 29:11
Let’s celebrate Jacqui and Anson’s journey and pray for all families walking the path of faith and perseverance.
