Message from the Principal
Dear parents/carers,
Term 3 2025 has come to an end. It has been a very busy and exciting term for our students and community. This week our term finished off with a huge highlight. Our Year 6 production was amazing. To see our Year 6 students perform so well, in front of our community was a great experience for us all. We are all so proud of the performance and the work that went into this event happening.
A huge thanks to our performing arts guru, Jody Banks and her team for all they do to put this amazing night together.
I want to thank all the school staff for their work this term and the extra effort that they give in their roles within our school. I am proud to be the principal of a school where the staff work so well together for the care and benefit of our students.
I wish our students and families a safe and happy holiday period.
Just a reminder that next term begins on Tuesday 7th October 7. I would also like to let all families know that Resurrection has been granted an extra school closure day on Monday 1st December as a result of us having to attend MACS professional development on a previous school closure day. There is no school on Monday 1st December.
Best wishes,
Deputy Principal

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Paulina Shugg and Leanne Kuzevski for the time, dedication, and care they have given to our students at Resurrection. During their placement, as they completed their training hours for their Learning Support qualification, they have been a valued part of our school community.
Their commitment to supporting students in their learning has made a real difference, and we are grateful for the patience, encouragement, and positivity they brought into the classroom each day. On behalf of our staff and students, we wish Paulina and Leanne every success as they continue their journey in Learning Support.
Additionally, we would like to sincerely thank all parents and caregivers who have signed and returned their child’s PLP (Personalised Learning Plan) to the school. Your support and partnership play an important role in your child’s learning journey.
If you have not yet returned your signed copy, we kindly ask that you do so at your earliest convenience.

It has been a busy and exciting term in PE, with our senior students taking part in a range of sporting competitions.
Senior Sports Competitions
Our senior cohorts proudly represented the school across several events, including the Boys and Girls District Basketball Tournaments, District Athletics, and Division Athletics. We saw some fantastic team efforts and impressive individual achievements throughout the term.
Here are some of the highlights:
Boys District Basketball Team – Finished 5th overall
Girls District Basketball Team – Achieved 3rd place overall, qualifying for the finals and putting up a strong fight, narrowly losing to St Lawrence by just 5 points.
District Athletics – 4 students were crowned winners in their events.
Division Athletics – 2 students took top honors and have now progressed to the Western Regional Round.
Congratulations to all our students for their hard work, dedication, and school spirit. We look forward to seeing more great results in the upcoming term!
Junior Tabloid Sports Day
In Week 7 of Term 3, our school proudly hosted the Junior Tabloid Sports Day — a fun-filled event that brought energy, excitement, and friendly competition to our school grounds. Our Junior Students spent many weeks preparing for this event during class and trying their best to learn the wide range of skills that were displayed on our Junior Tabloid Sports Day!
A big thank you to all the parents and carers who came along to support our students and helped run the activities throughout the day. Your involvement made a big difference and helped make the event a success!
The day featured a variety of activities, including the 70m sprint, egg and spoon relay, bean bag toss, hit the wickets, hoop jump relay, tennis ball-in-hoop race, tunnel ball, and the classic sack race. Our students gave it their all, showing great teamwork, sportsmanship, and school spirit.
Congratulations to Sebastian Green House, who emerged as the overall winners and took home the Junior Sports Day trophy!

Jubilee Year ‘Pilgrims of Hope’
What are we doing to celebrate here at Resurrection Primary School?
We will be running an Art Competition! All children are invited to participate by creating an art piece based on the themes outlined in the poster, and by providing a paragraph (Yrs 3-6) / a sentence or two (Yrs P- 2s) explaining the meaning of their artwork. This art piece is to be created at home and returned on or before Tuesday the 21st of October.
A great busy activity for the school holidays!
Staff and Students will also participate in regular prayer around the theme ‘Pilgrims of Hope’, allowing all to reflect on ‘hope’ and what it means for us today.
Sacrament of Confirmation: Thank you!
As we complete our Sacrament of Confirmation Masses for the year, we congratulate once again all of our newly confirmed students who have been sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit! Confirmations would not be possible without the parish team: Fr. Gerard, Melanie and Rachael who we thank for their leadership and organisation. We thank our Year 6 teachers Miss Salloum, Miss Huang and Miss Rosie for their support in the preparation of our candidates. And we sincerely thank all staff who were present at our Masses, supporting our students as they embarked on this important milestone in their faith journey. Photographs with Bishop Martin have been distributed to all Confirmation families.
Information about our 2026 Sacraments will be distributed to Year 3 and Year 5 families via Operoo in Term 4.

MATILDA BY ROALD DAHL
The Year 3 students have been reading the book Matilda by Roald Dahl. As part of their literacy unit, they have written persuasive texts in response to the question: "Should Miss Trunchbull still be the headmistress of the school?"
The students are very proud of their work and have put a lot of thought and effort into developing their arguments.
Enjoy reading!
Should Miss Trunchbull still be the Headmistress of the School?
Did you know that kids should not have a cruel and strict leader at school? Miss Trunchbull should not be the leader because she does not care about the children, she is cruel, and abusive. Firstly, Miss Trunchbull doesn’t care about the kids because she FLINGS
kids into the air, makes them stand like their ROBOTS when she is talking and screams so loud! So obviously she will HURT your child! Secondly, Miss Trunchbull is clearly cruel to students because she has this horrible closet called the CHOKEY that has pointy nails sticking out of the walls! I would be very concerned for my child if she did bad things, because she would put her in the chokey and that is HARMFUL. Thirdly, she is very abusive to children because Miss Trunchbull will hurt your child, and I am 100% sure that she does not care. I do not recommend her school because she will make kids feel unwanted by the school and without a doubt, they will feel PETRIFIED! So, should Miss Trunchbull really be the Headmistress? NO WAY HOSAY!
There is a way better teacher who is not cruel and that is Miss Honey because she is kind, helpful and caring to the kids. Do not trust Miss Trunchbull as your leader!!
By Ava P
SHOULD MISS TRUNCHBULL REMAIN AS THE STRICT, MEAN HEADMISTRESS?
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement for Miss Trunchbull to be the headmistress known as the principal too. Well in my opinion I say that Miss Trunchbull should not be the headmistress of Crunchem Hall Primary School because Miss Trunchbull is a bully who doesn’t care about children, and she is a harsh principal, and she is very nasty and only cares about herself!
Firstly, Miss Trunchbull is a bully who doesn’t care about children. When Miss Trunchbull is very concerned, she sometimes mostly blames Matilda for everything which is unfair in life. She always uses and manage kids violently which is obviously unacceptable. She screams at children in a way that an earthquake will come in any second. You can certainly tell that Miss Trunchbull is not happy person. You will get chills down your spine immediately the moment you see her face. Miss Trunchbull is as mad as a bull chasing you. She bullies kids so bad way worse than a normal bully would!
Secondly, Miss Trunchbull is a very harsh principal. She never gets shy when she does any punishments, like public ones. It could even lead to CHOKEY! Chokey is a little room filled with nails. Chokey is not a good place, many children deserve better than Chokey and being locked in it.
It could damage children’s mental health which is tremendously concerning. Would you like a principal like that? Her punishments are way too harsh without doubt. Miss Trunchbull sometimes even does child abuse which is clearly terrible.
Thirdly, Miss Trunchbull is a nasty principal. She mostly cares about herself and how her attitude is. She thinks that everyone should obey her. She only cares about her own safety and awareness instead of the children’s one. Miss Trunchbull likes when people listen to her. Miss Trunchbull should certainly never ever be a principal even if she had a chance! Miss Trunchbull is selfish and mean. She cannot be required as a principal.
Now from all the information I told you, you agreed with me if not it's time for a little change. Children deserve a headmistress who knows what spreading kindness is. Kids certainly need a headmistress who cares about children unlike Miss Trunchbull obviously. Miss Trunchbull is mean, nasty and doesn’t care about children safeness. UNBELIEVEABLE! It is clearly necessary that Miss Trunchbull is obviously not required as a principal.

Should Miss Trunchbull be the headmistress?
Wouldn’t it be a terrible experience to have such a cruel headmistress? Well, that’s how to describe Miss Trunchbull. Miss Trunchbull is the headmistress, and she should unquestionably leave for being a big real deal. She shall not and must not be headmistress because she is too rough on students, rough on teachers as well and only cares about herself and no other children's safety and health. Shouldn’t the headmistress be fair, caring and someone to look up to? I can certainly tell you, Miss Trunchbull is none of them.
To begin with, Miss Trunchbull is way too rough on students and teachers. She’d force them to suffer by making them want to never come back. Don’t you think a headmistress should treat children respectfully? This is why Miss Trunchbull should not be headmistress of any school. A school that she should have 0 students max. To add on, Miss Trunchbull is a selfish person. She just wants everything to herself instead of taking her time to help children. For example, she wanted to eat an 18-inch cake instead of helping people. Do you really want a careless and selfish headmistress? I didn't think so. And finally, she would NEVER care about children’s safety and health. If there was a fire, it would be a zero percent chance for Miss Trunchbull to help the students. And I mean it!
So, let’s change things up a bit. Students have worked hard to gain a caring, respectful and great leader, not a rough and selfish one. So now, I think it is obvious and clear that it is vital to say that someone else will replace her and Miss Trunchbull will not come back, and that’s what all students deserve, an excellent leader!

Inquiry - Middle School
The Middle School students have been learning about Port Phillip Bay and its marine life as part of their Term 3 Inquiry Unit. They have been busily making Dioramas and experimenting on the effects of pollution in the water and how that could affect marine life. As part of an investigation on Port Phillip Bay marine life students have been presenting their animal fact file to their class.

SUNDAY GOSPEL
Twentieth third Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year C
We reflect:
Our world teaches us that “bigger is better,” so many believe that we need bigger homes with huge closets, luxurious cars, enormous bank accounts, and large, lavish lives. The world is fixated on making money and focusing on one’s income rather than things of God. In Luke’s gospel for this Sunday, Jesus reminds us that small things matter and that faithfulness in small things is the foundation of a faithful life. Before we are trusted with true riches, we are asked to be faithful with what may seem ordinary or small.
In a world that urges us to “go big or go home,” Jesus teaches the power of small, consistent acts of love, honesty, generosity, and justice. One’s character is revealed in everyday decisions with how we handle small things, such as our words, our time, our money, and our relationships. True wealth is not gold or bank accounts; it is grace, justice, compassion, generosity, and peace, which are the gifts of the Spirit. We cannot pursue those things while worshiping wealth, as we need to see care of our neighbors, the environment, and the vulnerable as a holy responsibility.
We need to become faithful to God and not to money. Our faith must be embodied not just in church, but in how we spend money, treat people, respond to injustice, and care for creation. Being faithful in the little things is a revolutionary act in a world that often ignores the quiet, humble, and everyday acts of love and justice. Faithfulness is doing the right thing when no one is watching and giving a little when you don’t have a lot.
We read: Luke 16:10-13
Jesus said to his disciples:
"The person who is trustworthy in very small matters is also trustworthy in great ones;
and the person who is dishonest in very small matters is also dishonest in great ones.
If, therefore, you are not trustworthy with dishonest wealth, who will trust you with true wealth?
If you are not trustworthy with what belongs to another, who will give you what is yours?
No servant can serve two masters.
He will either hate one and love the other,
or be devoted to one and despise the other.
You cannot serve both God and mammon.
The Gospel of the Lord
Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ
