Term 4 Week 1 of 11
Friday, 10th October 2025
Message from the Principal
Dear parents/carers,
I’m pleased to advise you that our Year 1/2 area underwent a major refurbishment over the school holidays. Walls with glass have been put in to split Year 1 and 2 classrooms. Over the Christmas holidays the refurbishment will continue separating all Year 1/2 classes into 6 individual classrooms separated from each other. This will provide areas that are far more conducive to student focus and learning. This will really help our students with their learning.
This will complete the project of creating individual Year prep, one and two rooms. There will be no more open learning classrooms at our school.
n Wednesday we celebrated our wonderful art show and cultural parade. Our students are amazing artists. What a pleasure it was to see their talents on show. This is the second time I’ve seen the cultural parade, and it filled me with a great sense of pride in our community to see so many cultures proudly represented. Thanks to our amazing art teachers Emma Lyons and Tosh Kaan for putting the art show together.
Best wishes,
2026 Planning

Deputy Principal
Welcome to Term 4!
Who can believe we are already in the final term of 2025! This term is looking to be a very exciting one with so many learning opportunities and celebrations to look forward to. We have already celebrated our Art and Cultural Show earlier this week as well as the Colour Run today! We look forward to a range of events such as P-2 Swimming, Year 5 Camp, Hot Dog Day, level masses, Lego Land excursion for Preps, Bundoora Park excursion for Years 1 and 2, Remembrance Day, transitions to 2026 classes, Year 6 celebrations and graduation and of course our Christmas Carols at the end of term!
Please continue to check the newsletters and your Operoo regularly to ensure you are aware of the details of upcoming events throughout the term. This helps these special events run smoothly and prepares families and students to engage fully in each event.
Year 5 Camp
A reminder that our Year 5 campers will be leaving for their three-day camp on Monday 13th - Wednesday 15th October. The buses will depart on Monday 13th at 9:30am - students are expected at school promptly at our regular start time of 8:30am to prepare for the camp and for teachers to take the attendance roll. Campers will return on Wednesday 15th October for a regular 3:15pm pick up time.
Miss Salloum and the Year 5 team have shared the finer details with relevant families via Operoo and the information and packing list has been shared via Seesaw. A big thank you to our wonderful staff for their attendance at the camp. These events do form some very special memories for our students, and we are grateful for your care and efforts over the three days.
Prep - Year 2 Swimming (Weeks 2 and 3)
Our Prep - Year 2 students will begin their swimming program this coming Monday 13th October. Miss Hull and Mrs Krsticevic have shared important information about the program via Operoo. It will be helpful to read over this information to ensure you, and your child are aware of the requirements and to support the staff in ensuring the programme runs smoothly.
GRADE 6 PRODUCTION 2025 JUNGLE ADVENTURE
A huge congratulations to all of our Grade 6 students for their magnificent 3 performances of "Jungle Adventure" at the end of last term.
As always with Resurrection school events, there is a team of people involved in putting it all together, and this year’s Grade 6 production is a great example of the community team spirit we have here at our school.
Thank you firstly to Adrian and our amazing school leadership team for their constant support and encouragement of staff when putting together these big school events. Their support is the reason we are able to do these events for our school community and to give our students opportunities to discover and showcase their talents in so many areas.
Thank you to Father Gerard for attending the performance and for always supporting our school events as part of the wider parish community.
To our incredible office staff- Rachael Bonavia, Michelle Minos and Helen Frigo, for their constant support and help in organisational matters for all of our school events; this is very much appreciated!
Thank you to all of our fabulous staff for the work behind the scenes during both performance nights to ensure that the children looked fabulous and that everything ran smoothly.
Thank you to our amazing Specialist Team for their support and assistance in so many ways and for always asking what they can help with when putting on school events.
Thank you to our school maintenance team, particularly Loki, for setting up the backdrop, staging, set pieces, audience seating, and for always offering to help out whenever needed.
Thank you to the amazing group of staff and parents who did all of the make-up, face painting & hair for the official photo shoot displayed in the foyer: Anna Attard and her daughter Antonia, Paola Arredondo and her daughter Bella, Jackie Wolfe, Jenny Le, Kristina Movric, Katherine Salloum, Amanda Azzopardi and Krichelle Samson. The children look incredible in the photos, dressed in their costumes and character make-up.
Thank you to Shannon Betham for being our official photographer, taking live photos of the performance and also taking all of the photos at the official photo shoot; an amazing job as always! Thank you also to Shannon for being a big supporter of the school production each year and for her constant encouragement.
Thank you to Carla Krsticevic for filming the production across both nights; a copy of this will be made available to families shortly.
Thank you to our amazing Grade 6 teachers and LSOs- Katherine Salloum, Jane Huang, Rosie Nojdek, Jenny Le and Paola Arredondo for their support and work during rehearsals in the lead up to the show. The genuine care for their students was incredible to see and their support of every one of them along the way was inspiring to observe. Thank you also to Jane for being a good sport and jumping up on stage as "Tarzan"!
A huge thank you to Katherine Salloum for her support and hard work in the lead up to the show including designing and printing the programs, organising and setting up the ticketing for the event, editing the production video, and being the stage manager over all 3 performances, making sure that everything ran smoothly backstage.
And now, to our resident costume mistress: Mary Flahavin! Mary was a teacher at Resurrection for 30 years, much of that time teaching Performing Arts and Visual Arts and she has a passion for costume design and show business in general! This year’s costumes for the show were incredible and really added to the overall experience for the children performing on stage, as well as for the audience. The detailed thought into how each character would look and then finding, making, and putting together all of the costumes was a huge task and one that Mary did with such enthusiasm and care. As a school community we would like to thank Mary for costuming the production for yet another year and for all of the hard work that has gone into all of the characters looking fabulous on stage!
And lastly, a huge congratulations to our Grade 6 cohort for 2025!!! You produced an incredibly entertaining show and developed your confidence and performance abilities over the months of rehearsals and preparations. The way that you learnt your lines, songs & choreography, attended many rehearsals in your own break times, and the overall effort you put in to making the show a success has not gone unnoticed. Rest assured that you have made all of your teachers, parents, families and friends so very proud of you, and you should all feel very proud of your achievements!

In faith
SUNDAY GOSPEL
Twenty=eight Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year C
We reflect:
Today we hear about how Jesus, continuing on his journey to Jerusalem, heals 10 lepers. This story is a lesson about faith and reminds us that faith is sometimes found in unlikely places. Ten people afflicted with leprosy cry out to Jesus. Struck with pity, Jesus heals all 10. However, only one is described as glorifying God and returning to thank Jesus.
The one who returns is a Samaritan, a foreigner. In the Jewish circles in which Jesus lived, Samaritans were looked down upon because of the differences between the two communities in their observance of Judaism. It is significant, therefore, that Jesus commends the Samaritan for his faith, which has been his salvation. Throughout Luke's Gospel, faith is found in surprising places.
Another lesson for us in this Gospel has to do with salvation. All 10 of the lepers were given the gift of healing, but in his gratitude to God for this gift, the Samaritan found salvation. Our salvation is found in recognizing the gifts we have been given and knowing to whom we must offer our thanks.
We read: Luke 17:11-19
As Jesus continued his journey to Jerusalem,
He traveled through Samaria and Galilee.
As he was entering a village, ten lepers met him.
They stood at a distance from him and raised their voices, saying,
"Jesus, Master! Have pity on us!"
And when he saw them, he said,
"Go show yourselves to the priests."
As they were going they were cleansed.
And one of them, realizing he had been healed, returned, glorifying God in a loud voice; and he fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked him.
He was a Samaritan.
Jesus said in reply,
"Ten were cleansed, were they not?
Where are the other nine?
Has none but this foreigner returned to give thanks to God?"
Then he said to him, "Stand up and go;
your faith has saved you."
The Gospel of the Lord
Praise to You Lord Jesus Christ!
2026 Student Leadership
We are entering an exciting time of the year as our Grade 4 and 5 students begin preparing to run for leadership positions in 2026. This week, students have been provided with a nomination form to express their interest in applying for a 2026 leadership role. They have also been shown the following timeline outlining the election process for next year’s leadership positions.
You will find a summary of the leadership roles available in 2026 on the following page.
I thank you in advance for encouraging your child/children to apply for a position of leadership in 2026 and helping them apply for a position that best resonates with their personal qualities and attributes.
If you have any questions regarding the 2025 Leadership election process, please contact me at ksalloum@rskingspark.catholic.edu.au
Reminder Hats on for Term 4!
As the sun begins to shine brighter and the days grow warmer, it's time for our Term 4 sun safety reminder: all students are required to wear their school hats during outdoor activities.
Wearing a hat is a vital part of our SunSmart policy, helping protect students from harmful UV rays while they enjoy recess, lunch breaks, PE lessons, and other outdoor events.
What You Need to Know:
Hats are compulsory whenever students are outside.
Students without hats will be asked to stay in designated shaded areas.
Please check that your child’s hat is clearly labelled with their name.
Let’s work together to keep our school community safe and sun-smart.
Grade 4 Camp
Last term, Grade 4 students attended Camp Wyuna in Queenscliff. The students had the opportunity to conduct a range of activities such as pizza making, orienteering, beach play and archery. As part of the camp experience, the Grade 4’s also visited the Marine Discovery Centre. This allowed the students to learn more about the different sea life that live in Port Phillip Bay.
Camp is always such a wonderful learning opportunity for our students to show their independence and sense of resilience as they face new and exciting learning outside of the classroom.
A special thanks goes to our staff: Lena Aloi, Ella Nowak, Georgia Tankey, Jackie Wolfe, Kristina Movric, Christine Borg, Marianne Dukakis, Fiona Gradidge, Kurt Caguin and Matt Dalton who took time away from their loved ones to support the children on camp.
