Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
What a wonderful end to the Term we have had. On Wednesday and Thursday night we had our “Showcase Spectacular”. What an amazing performance by our Year 5 and 6 students. What a show, full of amazing dancing, great music, amazing acting and even great comedy.
As an audience member I was just so amazed at the talent and skill of our students. As a principal, I’m so proud of our students and so thankful for all the efforts of our staff. A huge thanks to Jody Banks who puts all this together with such dedication and skill, Mary Flaharin who volunteers time to get all the props and costumes ready and to Georgia Tankey who was the dance instructor and stage manager. Thanks to all the staff who helped with the setup, the make-up, the practice and so much more.
Also, congratulations to our Year 6 students who had their confirmation on Saturday 12th September. A big thank you to Matt Dalton, Fr Gerard and the year 6 teachers for all the preparation and organisation that went into such a great ceremony.
The Term ended with Confirmation and Showcase Spectacular, but there were also First Holy communions, two camps, many sporting events and excursions. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all the Resurrection staff for making these events happen and often giving up a lot of their own time.
Thanks to the parents and carers for the trust they place in our school and recognition that we are a school that strives to do the very best for its students, especially in their academic pursuits and care for their wellbeing.
I wish our students, staff and families a wonderful school holiday period.

We have had many exciting PE events this term and we are looking forward to our Tabloid Junior Sports Day in Term 4, Week 2.
Tabloid Junior Sports Day 2027 (Term 4, Week 2)
We are excited to announce that our Tabloid Junior Sports Day will be held on Monday 12th October 2026, here at school on the oval and 3/4 Basketball Courts.
Our Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students have been preparing for the day in their PE lessons. They have been practising a range of activities including tunnel ball, relay races, sprints and team challenges that they will participate in on the big day!
On the day, students will compete in their class groups while also working together in their House teams to earn points. The House colour with the most points at the end of the day will be the winner and receive a trophy that will be displayed in the school office. Students will also have the opportunity to earn ribbons throughout the day.
This is a great opportunity for our students to practise their sporting skills, teamwork skills and have lots of fun!
Important Details
Date: Monday, 12 October 2026 (Term 4, Week 2).
Time: 11:30am–1:30pm
Location: School Oval and 3/4 Basketball Courts.
Families: Parents and carers are welcome to attend and support our students.
Uniform: Students may wear their PE uniform with House-coloured accessories such as wristbands, coloured shoes or socks, scrunchies, wigs, tiaras, gloves and hats etc.
We are very excited to see our students, families and staff come together for this fun event. We look forward to seeing our Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students enjoy the day and show their sporting skills and House spirit!

Last weekend, students from Year 6 and our Parish families received the Sacrament of Confirmation. We congratulate once again all of our newly confirmed students who have been sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit! Confirmations would not be possible without the parish team: Fr. Gerard, Melanie and Rachael who we thank for their leadership and organisation. We also thank our Year 6 teachers Miss. Tankey, Miss. Rosie and Mr. Caguin for their preparation of our candidates, as well as our staff who were present at our Masses.
And finally, we thank our parishioners, who along with prayers, supporting our students as they embarked on this important milestone in their faith journey.

We have had some very exciting news! We welcome our newest Resurrection community member. Mrs Shannon Betham welcomed little Nora into our world over the weekend! Congratulations to Shannon and her husband Mark on the new addition to your family. God bless you and your family as you navigate and embrace this special time in your lives!
Term 4 - Summer Uniform & Hats Required!
A friendly reminder that all children must be wearing their summer uniform during Term 4. All children must be wearing their school hat during break times and outdoor activities. Children will be asked to remain in shaded areas if they do not have their hat to keep out of the sun.
Year 4 Camp
What a wonderful stay our students had at Camp Wyuna in Queenscliff. They
participated in a range of activities such as a visit to the Marine Discovery Centre, Ocean Biology Cruise on Port Phillip Bay, canoeing, a treasure hunt and pizza making. Thanks to the Resurrection staff for giving up their time and energy to make the three days such a success. I want to especially focus on the wonderful way our children looked after each other and supported each other in completing a new type of experience.

This is an annual Australian day event that teaches primary school children how to recognize big feelings, care for their friends, and ask "Are you OK?" in a safe, age-appropriate way.
It teaches children how to notice when a classmate or friend might be sad, worried, or acting differently.
Children learn they do not need to fix a friend's big problems themselves; instead, they should talk to a trusted adult like a teacher or parent.
It helps kids understand that everyone has tough days and that talking about their feelings is healthy.

Twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew 20:1-16
We Reflect
On a first reading of this gospel story, the reader is probably struck by the unfairness of the situation. The landowner has employed day labourers at different times throughout the day to work in his vineyard. However, come the end of the day, the landowner pays all the day labourers the same amount. Not surprisingly, the labourers employed at daybreak to work the whole day are upset that those who have only worked the last hour of the day are paid the same amount. The landowner reminds them that he is paying them what they agreed at the start of the day, and yet the reader is left uncomfortable about the whole arrangement.
Of course, this is the purpose of Jesus’ story! The key to the story is in the introduction. Most of the kingdom parables told by Jesus begin with a formulaic statement, ‘The kingdom is like …’ and this one is no different. What follows is almost always a description of an everyday event that is turned on its head. In all of the kingdom parables recorded in the gospels, Jesus describes a world order in which people respond in unexpected and sometimes confusing ways. His message is that the kingdom, or reign, of God turns expectations upside down. In the kingdom, people who are treated badly in this world are held in great esteem; the balance of power is turned upside down; and the usual order of things is challenged. The landowner’s final comment in the parable, ‘the last will be first, and the first, last’, is a perfect example of the challenging nature of Jesus’ kingdom parables. In the kingdom, those who hold themselves to be first in this world will be brought down, and those who are treated as least in this world will be exalted.

We Read
Jesus said to his disciples: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a landowner going out at daybreak to hire workers for his vineyard. He made an agreement with the workers for one denarius a day, and sent them to his vineyard. Going out at about the third hour he saw others standing idle in the market place and said to them, “You go to my vineyard too and I will give you a fair wage.” So they went. At about the sixth hour and again at about the ninth hour, he went out and did the same. Then at about the eleventh hour he went out and found more men standing round, and he said to them, “Why have you been standing here idle all day?” “Because no one has hired us” they answered. He said to them, “You go into my vineyard too.” In the evening, the owner of the vineyard said to his bailiff, “Call the workers and pay them their wages, starting with the last arrivals and ending with the first.” So those who were hired at about the eleventh hour came forward and received one denarius each. When the first came, they expected to get more, but they too received one denarius each. They took it, but grumbled at the landowner. “The men who came last” they said “have done only one hour, and you have treated them the same as us, though we have done a heavy day’s work in all the heat.” He answered one of them and said, “My friend, I am not being unjust to you; did we not agree on one denarius? Take your earnings and go. I choose to pay the last-comer as much as I pay you. Have I no right to do what I like with my own? Why be envious because I am generous?” Thus the last will be first, and the first, last.’

The Feast of Our Lady of The Rosary

At 10.30am Mass
Mass will begin with the procession of Our Lady and after communion all the children
will be invited to process down and place a flower at the statue of Our Lady. After Mass there will be some light lunch for all to share and some traditional dancing.

You're warmly invited to join us in praying the Rosary at 6.30pm each Wednesday throughout October, beginning on the 7th, in the Church.
After the rosary you are invited to stay back with the prayer group to reflect the readings of the coming Sunday.
St Vincent de Paul – August Report
Our St Vincent de Paul team has provided their August activity summary, highlighting the continued support offered to households in need within our community:

•Emergency food support - $34.00 spent to prepare a hamper for a man living in his car, plus an additional voucher for essential items
