Friday 18th September, 9am is End of Term Mass and footy colours day are also on this day. Students can wear footy or sports colours. They don’t have to have a footy jumper; they can just dress colourfully.

Going Green! Times Tables Superstars in Year 3 & 4
There’s a green wave sweeping through our Year 3 and 4 classrooms — and it’s multiplying fast!
Our students have been working hard on their times tables, and we’re thrilled to see so many of them earning their Green Certificate. To go green, students need to know all their times tables up to 12 × 12 and be able to give the answer in mere seconds. No fingers, no counting, no “ummm… hang on…” — just fast, confident recall!
And the best part? Going Green certificates are popping up in multiple classrooms!
It’s fantastic to see students challenging themselves, celebrating their progress and cheering each other on. Every Green Certificate represents persistence, practice and some seriously impressive multiplication skills.
So, Year 3 and 4 — keep those multiplication facts firing! At this rate, we may need to order more green ink!

Morning - Car Park Safety
This has been mentioned in previous newsletters, however we have noticed some unsafe practices.
A few reminders:
Adhere to the speed limit (walking pace)
If you are parking:
Please park within the parking bays (lines).
Pedestrians must use the designated walkway (between the cones) and only cross at the pedestrian crossing, this is supervised by a member of staff for student safety.
If you are doing a kiss and drop:
The drop off area (located adjacent to the church) is the only area that a kiss and drop is acceptable. No child should be exiting a vehicle near the back gate.
Students should enter and exit vehicles on the curb side.
Afternoon - Car Park Safety
Return to your car as soon as possible. If you need to remain longer, please park towards the rear of the carpark (near the green fence). This will avoid blocking other cars.
A staff member will release the cars row by row.
When exiting the car park onto Gum Road, it is left turn only.
The disabled parking bays (adjacent to the Church) are to be used only by those who require them. An Accessible Parking Permit (AAP) must be on display.
Let's work together to create a positive environment for our students and community. Videos of the morning and afternoon protocols are available on the school website.
After School Supervision
A friendly reminder that all students must be supervised from 3:15pm onwards by an adult (parent /carer). Teachers take great care to dismiss students from their classroom either to the care of an adult or to afterschool care. While families are allowed to use the playground equipment until 3:30pm, this still requires direct supervision of the child by the responsible adult. No child should be left unsupervised on the yard. The playground is not a place for students to wait for collection. Sadly, we have had some instances of missing school bags and injuries which we believe have been as a direct result of no supervision.
Students whose families are running a little late are offered temporary supervision by a staff member until 3:30pm outside the hall. However please note, any child left from 3:30pm may be sent to afterschool care with the family incurring the expense.
Sacrament of Confirmation
Over the last few weeks, our Year 6 students have been busy preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Please join us in praying that our students feel the warmth of God’s grace, the strength of the Holy Spirit, and the loving support of our parish and school community as they take this meaningful step.

Footy Colours Day
To celebrate the end of term 3, we will be having a Footy Colours Day on Friday 18th September. Students are encouraged to wear their favourite football team's gear, team coloured clothing or ribbons etc. It could be from AFL, NRL, Soccer or any sporting team. However please note that runners are the only acceptable footwear. No football boots, thongs, sandals or open toed shoes are acceptable.
We kindly ask that all students who can bring a gold coin donation, all proceeds going towards Project Ubuntu

SHOWCASE SPECTACULAR
Tickets for the show have now sold out, with our Senior School families getting first preference to book seats in order to see their children perform on stage. All students from Prep-Grade 4 will get to see the show at the matinee performance on Wednesday the 16th of September from 11.30am -1.30pm in the hall. We look forward to seeing all of our Grade 5 & 6 students perform next week in what is sure to be an exciting and entertaining show!!!

Twenty-fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew 18:21-35
We Reflect
This gospel passage follows directly from last week’s passage. It concludes the whole of Matthew Chapter 18 that deals with sin, forgiveness and reconciliation. Peter’s question to Jesus and suggested answer is a reflection of the view that there is a limit to the number of times we should forgive someone. Seven is a significant number in scripture and implies a ‘perfect’ amount. Even though by his use of seven, Peter is suggesting that he should forgive someone many, many times, Jesus quickly corrects Peter and says not seven, but seventy-seven times (or seventy times seven). Jesus plays on the use of the number seven and multiplies it to indicate that one should forgive as many times as is required – without keeping count; without keeping score.
The story of the unforgiving servant is a familiar one of forgiveness and mercy being shown but not passed on. The sting in the tail of this parable is Jesus’ final warning that, ‘So will my heavenly Father do to you, unless each of you forgives his brother from his heart.’ This is an unsettling statement, as we believe God’s forgiveness to be without measure and without end. Jesus warns that unless we seek to imitate God’s forgiveness and forgive others ‘from our heart’ (with compassion) then we are not going to recognise the forgiveness of God and will cut ourselves off from it.
The whole idea of forgiving from the heart is a powerful contradiction of a popular concept: ‘I can forgive but not forget.’ Is it really possible to forgive but refuse to forget? Surely holding on to a memory of hurt is holding on to the hurt itself and does not display that any forgiveness has occurred at all. To forgive but not forget is to keep count. How many times should I forgive the one who has hurt me? As many times as it takes!

Peter went up to Jesus and said, ‘Lord, how often must I forgive my brother if he wrongs me? As often as seven times?’ Jesus answered, ‘Not seven, I tell you, but seventy-seven times.
‘And so the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who decided to settle his accounts with his servants. When the reckoning began, they brought him a man who owed ten thousand talents; but he had no means of paying, so his master gave orders that he should be sold, together with his wife and children and all his possessions, to meet the debt. At this, the servant threw himself down at his master’s feet. “Give me time,” he said “and I will pay the whole sum.” And the servant’s master felt so sorry for him that he let him go and cancelled the debt. Now as this servant went out, he happened to meet a fellow servant who owed him one hundred denarii; and he seized him by the throat and began to throttle him. “Pay what you owe me”, he said. His fellow servant fell at his feet and implored him, saying, “Give me time and I will pay you.” But the other would not agree; on the contrary, he had him thrown into prison till he should pay the debt. His fellow servants were deeply distressed when they saw what had happened, and they went to their master and reported the whole affair to him. Then the master sent for him. “You wicked servant,” he said. “I cancelled all that debt of yours when you appealed to me. Were you not bound, then, to have pity on your fellow servant just as I had pity on you?” And in his anger the master handed him over to the torturers till he should pay all his debt. And that is how my heavenly Father will deal with you unless you each forgive your brother from your heart.’

Notice for All Proclaimers of the WordACU Centre for liturgy is offering an online course over 4 weeks beginning on Tuesday 6th October. Most of the course work is completed in the participants' own time!
