Message from the Principal
Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Carers,
On Tuesday our Year Prep students celebrated 100 days of Prep. One big milestone in their educational journey with many more exciting milestones to come.
100 school days ago, our Preps stepped into the classrooms with big school bags, shiny shoes, and a mix of excitement and nerves. Fast forward 100 days, and our Prep learning space is bursting with confidence, laughter, curiosity, and incredible growth. Thanks to our Prep team for running such a fun day and our staff for getting involved. And most of all thanks to our 2026 Preps for bringing their unique and wonderful personalities into our school.
I wish to send an early invite to our Dad and their children to our Father’s day breakfast on Friday September 4. The morning will begin at 7.30am with breakfast for the dads and their children at our school, we will then have some games and activities. This year when the bell goes at 8.30am, if the dads have time they can line up with their child's grade and go into class for the first 30 minutes for some activities. Please come along for part or the whole of the morning.
Also a reminder that our school is closed on Monday August 17. Our school staff and parish staff will be involved in some faith formation learning.

As you are aware, last week we had our Parent Teacher Interviews.
These partnerships with families are a core part of what we do at Resurrection. Building family and school relationships. It was an opportunity to celebrate your child, celebrate their success and discuss ways both the school and home can further support them.
During these chats, we received some feedback from families that they are experiencing difficulty signing permission forms and viewing their child’s Semester 1 Report. Here are a few tips that might be useful:
Nforma Connect
Nforma has migrated to a new app, and the original "Nforma for Parents" app will no longer work. All parents and carers are required to download the new app, Nforma Connect. This app is essential, as we will use it for student reports and permission slips,
Nice and simple
Logging into the nPortal App is nice and simple. There are multiple ways that you can login to the App. The main thing to remember is to ensure that the email being used to login, is the email that is linked with the school. If you are unsure of which email address is linked to the school, please ask the office.
Be sure to turn on notifications via the app settings on your phone!
Semester 1 Reports
To view your child’s assessment reports, simply choose the selected child’s profile and the Report tile. You will then be presented with all the available reports for your child. Click on “download”, they will now download to your device where you can view them.
We hope these steps allow families to access all of the features on the Nforma Connect app.
Open Invitation
Parents across our MACS schools and the Archdiocese of Melbourne are invited to a unique opportunity to hear from Fr Stephen Wang, visiting all the way from Rome. If you choose to sign up to the webinar, he explores the inspiring topic: Accompaniment and Conversion: Walking with Our Children Toward Christ. We hope you are inspired in your journey of faith and parenting.
Father’s Day Event
We are excited to announce that this year, the fundraising committee will be holding a Father’s Day stall! The stall will be held on Monday 31st August with all gifts being sold for $5.00.
Parents will need to pre purchase items sold at the Father’s day stall using the following URL: https://resurrection-catholic-primary-school.square.site/
Your child will then receive a token at school which they will take to the stall to exchange for a gift. Please note that all gifts are $5.00 and you will be able to purchase a maximum of 2 gifts ($10) per child.

Our Senior Student Leaders enjoyed a fun day at the Brimbank Council with 5 other schools enhancing their leadership skills and potential. A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew 14:22-33
We Reflect
The image of Jesus still ashore while the disciples battled against strong winds and rising seas must have been an evocative one for the Matthean community. Like the disciples, they were acutely aware of their separation from Jesus. Unlike the disciples, they were separated by time and the raging storm that beset them was a tide of suspicion and persecution. At times they felt the strength and courage of Peter to step out of the boat and be Jesus in their world, but at other times they doubted their own abilities. It is a message for the Church of the day and the Church of today.
The cry of Peter is one that each of us feels the need to cry out at some stage in our life. Jesus trusted Peter’s ability to walk to him on the water; otherwise he would not have called Peter to do so. It is Peter who doubts himself. In this moment of realising that he can’t do it alone, he calls out to Jesus. One of the enduring images of Jesus is as the one who saves – the Saviour. When the realisation eventually comes to each of us that we can’t do it all alone, we need only call on the one who saves.

We Read
Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead to the other side while he would send the crowds away. After sending the crowds away he went up into the hills by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, while the boat, by now far out on the lake, was battling with a heavy sea, for there was a head-wind. In the fourth watch of the night he went towards them, walking on the lake, and when the disciples saw him walking on the lake they were terrified. ‘It is a ghost’ they said, and cried out in fear. But at once Jesus called out to them, saying, ‘Courage! It is I! Do not be afraid.’ It was Peter who answered. ‘Lord,’ he said ‘if it is you, tell me to come to you across the water.’ ‘Come’ said Jesus. Then Peter got out of the boat and started walking towards Jesus across the water, but as soon as he felt the force of the wind, he took fright and began to sink. ‘Lord! Save me!’ he cried. Jesus put out his hand at once and held him. ‘Man of little faith,’ he said ‘why did you doubt?’ And as they got into the boat the wind dropped. The men in the boat bowed down before him and said, ‘Truly, you are the Son of God.’

Car Registration Discount Assistance
Parishioners are reminded that a registration discount has been extended to 31st August.
For those who have not yet claimed their discount or who require assistance with the process, the Parish Office will be open on Friday, 21st August from 10am to 1pm to help with completing the claim.
Mass of the Assumption
The Mass of the Assumption will be celebrated on Friday, 14th August at 7.00pm and at our usual weekend Masses.
Upcoming Archbishop’s Campaign
The archdiocese has announced that the Archbishop’s Campaign will be commencing shortly. This annual initiative invites all parishioners across Melbourne to participate in supporting the pastoral, charitable, and missionary works of the Church.
Further details will be provided in the coming weeks, including how our parish can take part and the ways your contribution can assist the wider Archdiocesan community.
Mental Health & Wellbeing at Brimbank Leisure
Brimbank Leisure is hosting a series of free wellbeing sessions covering a range of topics including mental health, resilience, sleep health, managing stress and gentle movement to support healthy ageing. Shape the Future: Be Counted as Catholic this Census
Australia’s national Census will be held on 11 August 2026. Catholics are encouraged to mark “Catholic” in the question on religion. In a time when some would seek to diminish the importance of faith, it is vital that the Catholic community be represented in our national statistics. Census data supports Church pastoral planning and contributes to government decision-making on health, education, infrastructure, and social services – guiding resource and funding allocations across Australia. By identifying as Catholic, you can help ensure that the contribution and needs of faith communities are properly recognised and considered in future planning and policy decisions.
Clergy Conference
Tuesday 11th August to Thursday 13th August Fr Gerard will be attending a conference so there will be no Masses on Tuesday or Thursday. The focus of the assembly is becoming a Catechumenal Church with Bishop Etienne Veto from France.
