Term 2 Week 10 of 10

Friday, 26th June 2026

Message from the Acting Principal

What an incredible Term 2 we have had!

One of the qualities that we try to instill in our children at Resurrection is gratitude. Gratitude is the feeling of being thankful for the good things, people, and experiences in your life.

I would like to take this final newsletter of the term to highlight a few things that I am grateful for:

I am grateful for our students. They come to school each day bright eyed and eager to learn. From mastering fundamental concepts such as letter and sound recognition in Year Prep, through to learning about the 3 layers of Government in Australia in Year 6, our students are striving to be the best that they can be. Thank you for inspiring us.

I am grateful for our staff. Whether they are a teacher, learning support officer, maintenance, administration or leadership, I know that each and everyone of them has poured their heart and soul into our school. We know that there is a curriculum, but it is our staff who bring zest, energy and learning to life. Thank you for all of your hard work this term.

I am grateful for our shared Faith. We are Resurrection Catholic Parish Primary School. We have frequent opportunities to practise, grow and share our Faith under the leadership of Fr. Gerard Keith and the parish community. Thank you for supporting us on our journey.

I am grateful for our families. We cannot do any of this without you! Events such as excursions, Athletics day, Mother’s Day stall and classroom support could not have occurred without your willingness to help. Thank you for placing trust in our school, your support and working with us.

I wish you all a happy and safe holiday break.

Staffing updates

Next Term, we welcome back Adrian Glasby from his well earned Long Service Leave.

This week, Mrs. Carla Krsticevic commences her maternity leave as she, her husband Daniel await the arrival of their new little bundle. Carla has been a dedicated and committed teacher, team leader and literacy leader at our school. We all wish you well as you prepare for the gift of motherhood.

We also say goodbye to Loki, our Gardening and Maintenance representative from Your Space Landscaping. From keeping our grounds in great condition, to assisting with major events set ups such as Christmas Carols, Loki has ensured that our students have had the best facilities to learn.

Reminder Term 3 commences on Tuesday, 14th July!

Friendly Reminder for Families

Just a quick note to ask all parents to please send two boxes of tissues to your child’s classroom. These supplies help keep our room stocked and support everyone through the sniffle season.

Thank you for your help and support!

2027 Prep Enrolments

We are already receiving many enrolment applications from new families; which is a wonderful sign!

To assist us in our preparation and planning, we are encouraging our current parents to please collect and complete an enrolment form and to return it as soon as possible.

Best Wishes,

Learning Diversity

By now, you should have received your child’s Personal Learning Plan (PLP) or Adjustment Plan. Thank you to everyone who has already signed and returned theirs. If you are experiencing any difficulties opening the document via Adobe, please feel free to pop into the office so we can assist you.

As always, it was a wonderful privilege to meet with so many parents recently to discuss your children's learning journeys and future goals. Thank you for your continued engagement and partnership alongside us as educators.

Looking ahead to next term, we are incredibly excited to roll out the Highway Heroes program across our Prep area!

Celebrating Grandparents Day at Resurrection!

We are delighted to invite all grandparents to join us for a special Grandparent’s Day celebration on Thursday, 23rd July. The morning will begin with a whole school Mass, followed by a classroom visit, and will conclude with a lovely morning tea.

A Nforma form has been sent out this week, we kindly ask you to respond at your earliest convenience to help us with planning for this memorable event.

We look forward to sharing this special day with our cherished grandparents and families. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Crazy Hair Day: A Burst of

Colour & Creativity

Last Friday our school was transformed into a whirlwind of colour, curls, spikes, glitter, and pure imagination as we celebrated Crazy Hair Day. From rainbow mohawks to gravity‑defying ponytails, the creativity on display was nothing short of spectacular.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank‑you to every student, family, and staff member who took part in this fun event. Your enthusiasm turned an ordinary school day into something joyful and memorable. It was wonderful to see so much creativity, confidence, and community spirit shining through.

Your participation helped support Project Ubuntu. Due to our community's generosity, we raised $420.15. This money will go towards valuable resources and equipment at our sister school in Buyaga, Uganda.

To date 285 children have been given the opportunity of education which they would not have otherwise received. All money goes towards ensuring that each child receives access to education, a safe shelter, and food. Together, we are creating a brighter future, one child at a time.

Thank you for helping make the day such a success.

Teigan would love to share with the Resurrection family her accomplishments during her mid year gymnastics grading/competition last weekend. We are so proud she was able to achieve 1st place in floor routine, 1st place in beam routine, 2nd place in vault routine and she ranked 1st place in overall grading within her age group!!

Well done Teigan!!

Hannah and Thadeus recently volunteered their time with other members of our local community, The Friends of Iramoo’. The Friends of Iramoo are a collective group of people who are passionate about native grasslands and sustainability in the west.

Hannah and Thadeus potted different species of native plants including Craspedia Variabilis, Wallaby Grass and various native daisies.

The seedlings, once grown, will be planted into the Iramoo Grasslands, one of three protected grasslands in Cairnlea! All up with everyone pitching in, they potted over 3,300 seedlings before 12.30pm!

Thank you Hannah and Thadeus for being stewards of God’s Creation.

SUNDAY GOSPEL

Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A Matthew 10:37-42

We Reflect

The gospel for today can be a difficult one to hear. It calls us to place our discipleship before our loyalty to family and even before our own life. It is important to place this passage in the broader context of not only the chapter in which it sits, but also within the gospel as a whole.

Today’s passage appears at the conclusion of Chapter 10 in the Gospel of Matthew. The entire chapter deals with the commissioning and sending out of the disciples to ‘proclaim the gospel, heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy and drive out demons.’ (Mt 10:8) The previous chapter concludes with the words, ‘The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.’ (Mt 9:37-38) Chapter 10 is a response to this call. Jesus sends the disciples to ‘work the harvest’ through proclamation, healing and exorcism.

At the end of the chapter, having spelt out all the difficulties a disciple must face, Jesus assures them that even the smallest act of welcoming the disciple will be rewarded.

It’s also important to understand that the Jewish audience of the Gospel of Matthew found themselves under increasing persecution and there was often division within families between those holding to orthodox Jewish beliefs and those following the new Christian way. For some early Christians, there was the very real choice to be made between following their faith and remaining loyal to family. The Gospel of Matthew repeatedly affirms Jesus as the promised Jewish messiah; as the fulfilment of Jewish prophecy. For early followers of the Christian way, this difficult message about being a follower was in the context of an affirmation that the message of Jesus was deeply grounded in their Jewish faith.

REFLECTION by Dianne Bergant CS

We Read

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew

Jesus instructed the Twelve as follows: ‘Anyone who prefers father or mother to me is not worthy of me. Anyone who prefers son or daughter to me is not worthy of me. Anyone who does not take his cross and follow in my footsteps is not worthy of me. Anyone who finds his life will lose it; anyone who loses his life for my sake will find it.

‘Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me; and those who welcome me welcome the one who sent me.

‘Anyone who welcomes a prophet because he is a prophet will have a prophet’s reward; and anyone who welcomes a holy man because he is a holy man will have a holy man’s reward.

‘If anyone gives so much as a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is a disciple, then I tell you solemnly, he will most certainly not lose his reward.’

Praise to You Lord Jesus Christ

Bishop’s view of the parish’s stewardship

LUNCH & MEETINGS WITH ADMINISTRATIVE       STAFF – FINANCE, ADMINISTRATION

The Parish has two long time Parish Administrators, one full time and the other part time. They are very competent in their work and have a very good knowledge and understanding of the Parish. They are seen to be pastoral and dedicated in their service to the Parish. Their gifts make a very big contribution to the overall mission and effectiveness of the Parish. In many ways you have an important part to play in the variety of ways you use to communicate your information on volunteer lists for Parish activities and especially the liturgy. You take responsibility for the production of the Parish Bulletin and filling in the Parish registers. The Parish migrated to PACEM in 2022 and to Office 365 in late November ‘22 is very much part of the IT system of the Parish. The registers have been reviewed and are in good order.

Commend:

I commend the efforts of the Administration team for the way they serve the life of the Parish and in coordinating the many ministries for all who volunteer in Parish life.

It is also necessary for the Parish to have a Parish Finance Committee

Since the Bishop’s meeting a Finance committee has been established. I thank Marlene Cassar, Marlene Axiak, Henry Dunn, Rocky Hughes and Bernard Negline – (the new Parish accountant) for being part of this committee.

PARISH PROPERTY:

Resurrection Parish is the beneficial owner of one Church, and the Parish Office Building has two residential dwellings, one being the Presbytery and the other is the house which has been rented out in recent years.

There is a group of people who keep an eye on the maintenance of the buildings.  Some years ago, the church was renovated and there is always a need to keep it safe and attractive to the eye.   At the present time around the Kings Park area itself there has been some movement in the ground. We can see small signs of it also in the church building itself which is being monitored.

The Hall itself, while belonging to the school, is also shared with the Parish for different activities.  The good relationship between school and Parish makes this possible.

Observation:

The Parish is fortunate that there are no serious issues to be addressed in regard to the present buildings in the Parish.
