Term 2 Week 9 of 10
Friday, 19th June 2026
Message from the Acting Principal
This week both the world and Resurrection has gone Soccer Crazy!
Our students have been busy competing in multiple events:
Last Friday, our mixed Year 6 Interschool Sports Soccer team won the term final 5-1.
On Monday, our boys soccer team represented our school at the Senior District Soccer Tournament. They finished 3rd overall.
On Wednesday, our girls team represented our school with distinction at the Senior Districts Soccer Tournament. The girls came 3rd overall – they drew the 1st game, lost the 2nd game won the 3rd & 4th game. This was a great effort
On Monday, one of our students, Mila M, made it all the way through 2 rounds of competition to be the sole representative of our school at the Cross Country Western Metropolitan Regional Finals. She placed an incredible 47th out of 84 runners!
It was pleasing to see our students experience success. In a few year’s time we could perhaps be fortunate enough to have some of our very own students represent Australia at the next World Cup, or perhaps the 2032 Brisbane Olympics!
If you are interested in helping in the classroom and have completed the parent training course that was conducted at the start of the year, please speak to your classroom teacher.
While I don’t know what sport, hobby, interest or profession our students may decide to embark on, what I do know is that it takes an incredible amount of hard work, dedication, persistence and resilience to get there. I am reminded of the words of last year’s AFL guest speaker, Matthew Kennedy: "Preparation prevents poor performance".
It is in that spirit I present the two charts below:
Just like in sport, research tells us that a key foundation of academic success is consistency and daily attendance. So, I continue to encourage our community to develop habits that enable our children to experience success.
To further expand on the sporting analogy, when a soccer or AFL player attends training, they are surrounded by a team of highly skilled, passionate and dedicated coaches who will do what they can to support them. At Resurrection, our students are also surrounded by a team of highly skilled, passionate and dedicated individuals who will do what they can to support them! We need your help to get them to school on time to be ready for learning, so that we can help them become the best they can be.
2027 Prep Enrolments
Are Closing Soon
We are already receiving many enrolment applications from new families, which is a wonderful sign!
To assist us in our preparation and planning, we are
encouraging our current parents to please collect and
complete an enrolment form and to return it as soon as
possible.
Semester 1 Reports - nForma App
Have you downloaded your Nforma App yet? If not, please ensure that you have downloaded the Nforma app and have set up your account!
Our teachers have been incredibly busy writing reports. Our school reports will be made available online exclusively through the Nforma App at 3pm on Friday 26th June. No paper reports will be sent home.
These reports provide a brief snapshot of how your child is progressing against the Victorian Curriculum Standards. While they do not detail every single learning experience that happens in a classroom, they form a valuable conversation starter at next term's parent teacher interviews.
EARLY REMINDER
A reminder that Term 2 will conclude at 3:15pm on Friday 26th June! Children will return to school on Tuesday 14th of July.

We are delighted to invite all grandparents to join us for a special Grandparent’s Day celebration on Thursday, 23rd July. The morning will begin with a whole school Mass, followed by a classroom visit, and will conclude with a lovely morning tea.
A Nforma form has been sent out this week, we kindly ask you to respond at your earliest convenience to help us with planning for this memorable event.
We look forward to sharing this special day with our cherished grandparents and families. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
SUNDAY GOSPEL
Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A Matthew 10:26-33
We Reflect
‘Do not be afraid’ is one of the most commonly repeated sentences in the Bible. In one form or another, the command to ‘be not afraid’ or ‘fear not’ appears several hundred times throughout the Old and New Testaments. Today’s gospel passage is part of the sending out of the Twelve that occupies all of Chapter 10 in the gospel. It follows a little later in the chapter from last week’s reading in which Jesus called the Twelve and sent them out as Apostles. The remainder of the chapter provides an extended teaching on what it means and what it costs to take the message of Jesus out into the world. Jesus teaches the Twelve that the message they bear will not always be well received and there will be those who will seek to silence the Apostles through violent means. But then the teaching comes to the section of today’s passage and Jesus commands the Twelve, ‘Do not be afraid’.
The message to not be afraid is as much for the original intended audience of the gospel as it was for the apostles. The community for whom this gospel was written were on the verge of being ‘squeezed out’ and forced into secret. The passage reminds them to have courage and to have the courage of their convictions; to shout from the house-tops their message, not whisper it in darkness. It is a reminder of the abundant love of God who cares for them and sees all their efforts to continue to live out the message and ministry of Jesus.
It is equally a message for us, today. We are called to continue the spread of the gospel message; continuing the work of those early Christian communities, the Twelve and Jesus himself.
REFLECTION by Dianne Bergant CS
We Read
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew
Jesus instructed the Twelve as follows: ‘Do not be afraid. For everything that is now covered will be uncovered, and everything now hidden will be made clear. What I say to you in the dark, tell in the daylight; what you hear in whispers, proclaim from the house-tops.
‘Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; fear him rather who can destroy both body and soul in hell. Can you not buy two sparrows for a penny? And yet not one falls to the ground without your Father knowing. Why, every hair on your head has been counted. So there is no need to be afraid; you are worth more than hundreds of sparrows.
‘So if anyone declares himself for me in the presence of men, I will declare myself for him in the presence of my Father in heaven. But the one who disowns me in the presence of men, I will disown in the presence of my Father in heaven.’
Praise to You Lord Jesus Christ

MEETING WITH YOUTH
CHOIR:
Observation:
It was good to see a youth choir in the Parish as one of the choirs Commend: I commend the young people playing and leading the singing with and for the congregation 6:00pm: VIGIL MASS AND MEETING WITH PARISHIONERS: The liturgy is at the centre of our faith and especially the weekend masses as we celebrate in Word and Sacrament the presence of Christ in our midst to strengthen our communion with him and each other. You have many volunteers who assist in all that takes place both within the masses and also in the fellowship after mass. Your sense as being a multicultural community especially is seen at the celebration of the masses. You have nine choirs that take turns in providing liturgical music and leading the singing at the Eucharist itself. The Saturday I celebrated Mass; it was the youth choir that led the singing which was very vibrant and encouraging all to join in. 7:00pm: MEET AND GREET WITH CHOIRS AND LITURGY TEAM:
Commend:
I commend your commitment to serving the Parish in this way because music and singing adds so much to our liturgies and draws us even deeper into our relationship with the Lord and one another. You take pride in what you do and it also enlivens the spirit of the Parish. SUNDAY 15 MARCH: 9:00AM: MASS FOLLOWED BY MEETING WITH PARISHIONERS AND THE 9:00AM CHILDREN’S LITURGY GROUP There were many people who gathered to celebrate this Eucharist. The music and the singing were very good. Again, it was good to meet up with Parishioners and also share in refreshment following the mass. After this mass, I also met up with leaders of the children’s liturgy group, and I could see that they have a real commitment and love for what they are doing.
10:30AM: MASS FOLLOWED BY MEETING WITH PARISHIONERS AND MORNING TEA The celebration of the Eucharist was attended by a very large congregation. Again, the music and singing were very uplifting. Also, at the end of Mass the Religious Education Leader Mrs Erica Aclan at Resurrection School was being thanked for her contribution to the school before moving on a new appointment within the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools. This gesture was another sign of the close relationship between school and Parish.
