Term 2 Week 6 of 10
Friday, 29th May 2026
Message from the Acting Principal
Dear parents and carers,
Like many of you, I had the honour of attending our Parish’s 50th Anniversary celebration at last Sunday’s 10:30am Mass.
It was a Thanksgiving Mass. A time where we as a community stopped to reflect on the past 50 years of shared history. Lots has changed in 50 years. This was not only evident when examining the old photos, but also when conducting school tours with parishioners who were former students and teachers.
However, while there have been plenty of physical changes over the last 50 years, what really struck me was our shared sense of faith, service, gratitude and community that was established at the very beginning by our first parishioners and continued today in 2026. Thank you to all of the parishioners and school staff who gave up their time and energy to make the celebration such a success. A special mention also needs to go to our students who helped decorate displays throughout the school.
Our challenge as a faith filled community is to continue to develop this partnership and legacy into the future.
To paraphrase the song at the beginning of Mass:
We are one
But we are many
And from all the lands on earth we come
We'll share a dream
And sing with one voice
I am, you are, we are Resurrection
Best wishes
Excursions & Incursions
Prep - Animal Land
As part of our Living Things unit, the Preps had the chance to explore Animal Land in Diggers Rest and they had the most amazing time!
From pony rides and milking a cow, to churning butter, feeding alpacas and sheep, and cuddling baby animals, the day was packed with hands-on fun. The students also loved spotting the piglets and bouncing along on a tractor ride around the farm.
On top of all that, they planted their own sugar snap pea seeds and joined in some fun farm games. It was such a fantastic day full of laughter, learning, and new experiences. The Preps came back buzzing with excitement and a whole new appreciation for living things!
Year 1 & 2 - Melbourne Zoo
The Year 1 and 2 students had an exciting day on Wednesday of Week 4 at the Melbourne Zoo exploring the habitats and features of different animals. Students learnt how animals are specially adapted to survive in their environments and investigated the features that help them find food, move, and stay safe. Throughout the excursion, students observed a variety of animals and deepened their understanding of living things through hands-on learning and discussion. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect our classroom learning with the real world.
Year 3 & 4 – Incursion
Our Grade 3–4 students recently participated in an exciting Amazing Race incursion, where they worked in teams to solve clues, complete challenges, and race against the clock! Throughout the day, students developed their teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and navigation skills while demonstrating great enthusiasm and resilience. The incursion aligned perfectly with the ‘Mapping the Unknown’ Inquiry unit, investigating different geological features and mapping like true explorers! It was fantastic to see students encouraging one another and stepping outside their comfort zones in such a fun and engaging learning experience.

Learning Diversity
Last week we said goodbye to Amanda Azzapardi as she completed her LSO placement hours with us. We would like to thank Amanda for the care, time, and effort she dedicated to supporting our students during her placement.
We are grateful for the positive contribution she made to our school community and are pleased that we will still see her around the school. We wish Amanda all the very best in her future endeavours.

SUNDAY GOSPEL
The Most Holy Trinity John 3:16-18
We Reflect
he readings selected for Trinity Sunday provide an opportunity to reflect on the nature of God. Over recent weeks, we have celebrated the Ascension and Pentecost – both of which reveal something about the nature of God through Jesus and the Spirit. Trinity Sunday is an opportunity to celebrate the unity of God whom we acknowledge as Father, Son and Spirit. Today’s gospel reminds us that there is a seamless continuity between the different experiences of God. Although we sometimes regard the God of the Old Testament as judging and vengeful, today reminds us that God is, was, and always will be a God of love. The gospel reminds us that ‘God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son.’ Love is the characteristic of God that is experienced as Father, Son and Spirit. God loved the world into being and loved the people so much that God made a covenant relationship with them and repeatedly drew them back into that relationship when they strayed. God loved the world and the people so much that God became physically present through Jesus as yet another attempt to draw all people into an awareness of the loving relationship God desired for them. When Jesus could no longer remain a physical presence in the world, God’s Spirit became more evident to continue the work of drawing people into that loving relationship with God.
REFLECTION by Greg Sunter
We Read
Jesus said to Nicodemus,
‘God loved the world so much
that he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him may not be lost
but may have eternal life.
For God sent his Son into the world not to condemn the world,
but so that through him the world might be saved.
No one who believes in him will be condemned;
but whoever refuses to believe is condemned already,
because he has refused to believe
in the name of God’s only Son.’
Praise to You Lord Jesus Christ
