Term 1 Week 8 of 10

Friday, 19th March 2026

Message from the Principal

Dear parents and carers,

What an exciting week we had last week with our Year 6 students on camp, a special visit from

Fr. Nestus and a visit from Bishop Martin Aishe to our school and Parish. On Sunday Bishop Martin spoke highly about the strong relationship between the School and the Parish and the shared commitment to the faith formation of our students.  This week Mr Dalton, Mrs Aclan, some student leaders and I attended the St Patrick’s Day Mass and Catholic Education Week celebrations at St Patrick's Cathedral. It was a wonderful experience to celebrate along with other Catholic schools and a reminder of the passion about Catholic education that we all have.

Easter Hampers

The fundraising committee are asking all students to bring in donations of the following items:

●     Chocolate Easter Eggs

●     Hampers or Baskets

●     Ribbons / Cellophane

●     Anything else Easter related!

We are asking students to bring these items into school by Friday 27th March. The donations can be given to your child’s classroom teacher or the front office. The raffle will be drawn on 2nd April 2026. We have made buying the raffle tickets easier. You can do it by this link. It's $1 per ticket. Money raised will go towards more sports equipment for our students.

2027 Prep Enrolments Are Now Open

We are already receiving many enrolment applications from new families, which is a wonderful sign!

To assist us in our preparation and planning, we are encouraging our current parents to please collect and complete an enrolment form and to return it as soon as possible.

Best wishes

Deputy Principal

Congratulations - NAPLAN

A big congratulations to our Year 3 and Year 5 students for finishing their four NAPLAN assessments this week. Considering they also battled with a Nationwide computer outage is testament to their efforts and resilience they displayed throughout the testing period.

We know that NAPLAN is a one-off assessment. It assesses skills developed in writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.

What we want the children to remember is that NAPLAN cannot assess:

·  How kind you are

·  What an amazing friend you are

·  How creative you are

·  Your sports skills

·  Your music skills

·  Your ability to make others laugh and smile

·  How special and unique you are.

So, remember, NAPLAN is one test on one day. Our students are amazing EVERY DAY!

Before and After School

A friendly reminder that no large sports equipment e.g. soccer balls, basketballs, footballs are not permitted to be used before or after school. This is a safety precaution as we have many small children, parents and grandparents on site who are not expecting to be struck by a stray ball.

We also ask that bikes, e-bikes and scooters are not used while on school grounds. Please walk these items to the gates before using them.

Commissioning Mass for New Staff

More than 200 first-year graduate teachers were officially welcomed to Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) at a Commissioning Mass, celebrated by Archbishop Peter A Comensoli at St Patrick’s Cathedral. Our school was represented by two of our new staff, Amy Curmi and Isabella Pisano.

Representing many of the 290 primary and secondary schools across the MACS system, the annual event warmly embraces graduates into the teaching profession.

Following the Commissioning Mass, graduate teachers made their way to the Catholic Leadership Centre to take part in an induction program.

Warmly blessed by Archbishop Peter A Comensoli at St Patrick's Cathedral, the ‘newbies’ were full of smiles, excitement and lots of hope and joy for the future.

We can’t wait to watch them inspire, educate and make a difference.

Learning Diversity

Thank you to all the parents and carers who took the time to meet with us to discuss your child’s learning goals at school. We greatly value your involvement and partnership in supporting your child’s progress.

This week, the school will be sending out Personalised Learning Plans (PLPs) to families via Adobe. The document will require a signature from both you and your child’s teacher so please keep an eye on your inbox for this notification and check your ‘junk’ folder.

Religious Education

Quick, short clips for children to learn more about their faith, ‘Hey Sister!’ by ICON ministry is a great option for screen time. Featuring Sister Lawrence, a religious sister who is local to our area and produced by Fr. Rob Galea’s ministry, the first episode explores the Lenten season!

SUNDAY GOSPEL

4th Sunday of Lent - Year A

Some in the crowd who heard these words of Jesus said,
"This is truly the Prophet."
Others said, "This is the Christ."
But others said, "The Christ will not come from Galilee, will he?
Does not Scripture say that the Christ will be of David's family
and come from Bethlehem, the village where David lived?"
So a division occurred in the crowd because of him.
Some of them even wanted to arrest him,
but no one laid hands on him.

So the guards went to the chief priests and Pharisees,
who asked them, "Why did you not bring him?"
The guards answered, "Never before has anyone spoken like this man."
So the Pharisees answered them, "Have you also been deceived?
Have any of the authorities or the Pharisees believed in him?
But this crowd, which does not know the law, is accursed."
Nicodemus, one of their members who had come to him earlier, said to them,
"Does our law condemn a man before it first hears him
and finds out what he is doing?"
They answered and said to him,
"You are not from Galilee also, are you?
Look and see that no prophet arises from Galilee."

Then each went to his own house
