Term 1 Week 7 of 10

Message from the Principal

Dear parents and carers,

I write this newsletter with a great sense of pride in our School and Parish. This Tuesday our community gathered at 9am to welcome a special guest, Fr. Nestus. Fr Nestus is a Parish Priest in Buyaga,

Uganda, he is also the Parish Priest of Resurrection Catholic Primary School in Uganda. Resurrection school in Uganda has been able to build and flourish thanks to the amazing fund raising and work from the Resurrection, Kings Park Parish. The parish and parents at our school sponsor over 300 secondary school children to go to school. These donations as well as school fundraising have gone into building infrastructure and equipment to help educate students who would otherwise have no school to go to. Our staff are also now involved in supporting teachers in Uganda through financial support. This process is a wonderful example of a community supporting another community and our united commitment to show our Catholic Social Justice through action.

We gathered at 9am on Tuesday with our students, teachers, parents and parishioners. Our students sang to welcome Fr. Nestus. I was so proud of the reverence and the beautiful singing and actions of our wonderful school students. Many of our students dressed in their cultural clothing. A sign of the many varied people we are coming together to be one caring community.

If any of our parents can also join in and support. For us little as $10 per month you can help send a child to school. Please visit the parish office at the front of our school to organise this

to organise this support if you can.

This newsletter also comes with a little sadness. I wish to let the community know that Erica Aclan, our Religious Education leader has just taken a role at Melbourne Archdiocese School (MACS). Erica has been an amazing leader and member of both school and parish staff. Erica will be with us until the end of week 1 of term 2. We will formally farewell her in the coming weeks.

Best wishes

Deputy Principal

Naplan Update!

We are so proud of our Year 3 and 5 students for their efforts this week in completing the NAPLAN assessments. As reported in the media, our school was also impacted by the nationwide NAPLAN outage. Any assessments impacted will be paused and rescheduled at a later date.

I would like to acknowledge our students who demonstrated perseverance, resilience and great effort throughout the testing period. I know that they will continue to do this in the upcoming Conventions of Language and Numeracy tests.

The dates for the remaining assessments are listed below:

Monday 16th March: Conventions of Language

Tuesday 17th March: Numeracy

If your child is absent on any of the testing days:

We will have make-up sessions throughout the week for any students to complete any outstanding tests.

Use of student toilets before and after school!

A friendly reminder that families including younger or older siblings of students should not be using the student toilets before and after school so as to ensure our students are safe. If you need to use the bathrooms, please use the toilets located in the hall. A staff member will ensure these toilets are open before and after school for your use. Thank you for your understanding!

2027 Prep Enrolments Are Now Open

We are already receiving many enrolment applications from new families, which is a wonderful sign!

To assist us in our preparation and planning, we are encouraging our current parents to please collect and complete an enrolment form and to return it as soon as possible.

The BUDDY ZONE

In 2025, The Senior Student School Leaders worked on a project and left a special legacy to our school.

The BUDDY Zone!

This year our new Senior Student Leaders are promoting and launching this space at the school assemblies in the next couple of weeks.

How is this Buddy Zone used?

  1. When you can’t find your friends

  2. When you need a quiet space

  3. If you are in the blue or red zone and need some calming time or support

  4. You feel lonely and need a friend

  5. When you need a friend or a teacher to check in on you.

Let’s continue to make our school a safe and happy place where we all feel cared for.

Easter Hampers

The fundraising committee are asking all students to bring in donations of the following items:

●     Chocolate Easter Eggs

Religious Education

Welcome Fr. Nestus and Bishop Martin Ashe!

This week, we welcomed both Fr. Nestus and Bishop Martin to our school community. We gathered in prayer and in song, celebrating the rich culture and diversity in our school as well as our Catholic Identity which drives all that we do. We thank all parents for joining us both mornings, as well as all staff for their preparation, and all students for their deep participation.

Year Level Masses

At Mass, we are able to encounter the true and living God. It is rightly so that we are able to partake in it regularly and express our Catholic Identity through the beauty of the Holy Mass and allow our students and staff to contribute to leading these Masses for one another, and especially for our families and the wider Resurrection community.

We would love your support and attendance at our upcoming Masses:

SUNDAY GOSPEL

4th Sunday of Lent - Year A

We Reflect

As Jesus passed by he saw a man blind from birth.

He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva, and smeared the clay on his eyes,

and said to him,

“Go wash in the Pool of Siloam” — which means Sent —. So he went and washed, and came back able to see.

His neighbors and those who had seen him earlier as a beggar said,

“Isn’t this the one who used to sit and beg?”

Some said, “It is, “

but others said, “No, he just looks like him.”

He said, “I am.”

They brought the one who was once blind to the Pharisees. Now Jesus had made clay and opened his eyes on a sabbath. So then the Pharisees also asked him how he was able to see.

He said to them,

“He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and now I can see.”

So some of the Pharisees said,

“This man is not from God, because he does not keep the sabbath.”

But others said,

“How can a sinful man do such signs?”

And there was a division among them. So they said to the blind man again, “What do you have to say about him, since he opened your eyes?”

He said, “He is a prophet.”

They answered and said to him,

“You were born totally in sin, and are you trying to teach us?” Then they threw him out.

When Jesus heard that they had thrown him out,

he found him and said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” He answered and said,

“Who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?”

Jesus said to him, “You have seen him, and

the one speaking with you is he.”

He said,

“I do believe, Lord,” and he worshiped him.
