You will notice that there is no Art Show and Cultural Parade this year. We have decided to run the Senior School Showcase Spectacular (formally known as the school production) and the Art Show in alternate years to give each of these big events the time and preparation they need. 2026 will be the Senior School Showcase Spectacular and the Art Show will be in 2027.
The senior school showcase spectacular will be for year 5 and 6 students.
You will notice there are events such as the book parade, footy colours day and cultural dress. There is no pressure for families to go out and buy amazing costumes and outfits. Just a bit of colour or something homemade will do. We don’t want to place pressure on families but rather enjoy these moments with our community.
Best Wishes
Deputy Principal
Reminder: Monday 9th March is a Publci Holiday. As such, there will be no school on this day
Professional Learning for our staff
Our staff have been receiving professional development on Whole School Number
Framework (WSNF).
A whole-school number framework is used from Foundation to Year 6 at our school. It provides a consistent, research-based approach to teaching numeracy. It typically focuses on building "number sense"—covering counting, place value, and part-part-whole relationships—using both strategic thinking and essential knowledge to move students from basic counting to advanced multiplicative strategies.
Using assessment data, our teachers work collaboratively with our Numeracy Leader Michelle Widdison to tailor our teaching to meet the needs of all students.
Car Park
We kindly ask for your cooperation in ensuring that our school car park remains a safe and respectful space for everyone. When dropping off and picking up children,
please be mindful of the following:
Adhere to the speed limit
Park within the parking bays (lines)
Return to your car as soon as possible. If you need to remain longer, please park towards the rear of the carpark (near the green fence). This will avoid blocking other cars.
A staff member will release the cars row by row.
When exiting the car park onto Gum Road, it is left turn only.
The disabled parking bays (adjacent to the Church) are to be used only by those who require them. An Accessible Parking Permit (AAP) must be on display.
Let's work together to create a positive environment for our students and community. Videos of the morning and afternoon protocols are available on the school website.
Student Illness
This week, our sick bay has seen a dramatic rise in the number of children requiring care. While we very much understand that a sick child can represent a day off from work, or having to reschedule important meetings or appointments, school is not the place for an unwell child. By keeping a sick child home, it gives them an opportunity to recoup and get well in the comfort of their own home. It also helps stop their illness being passed on to other students. Thank you for your understanding.
Wellbeing, Child Safety & Community Leader
Resurrection school we use the Zones of Regulation. The ZONES can help children and adults develop self-awareness, manage emotions, and improve self-regulation. Bring the ZONES into your home.
Blue Zone (Low Energy, Sad, Tired, Bored):
Description: Children in the Blue Zone may feel sad, tired, or bored. They may experience low energy levels, and difficulties focusing or engaging in activities.
Regulation Strategies Relaxation activities = deep breathing exercises, taking a break, or drawing or listening to soft music.
Green Zone (Good to Go, Happy, Calm):
Description: Children in the Green Zone may be calm, focused, and able to regulate their emotions. They are ready to learn and participate in activities.
Regulation Strategies: Reinforce positive behaviours and coping skills.
Yellow Zone (Frustrated, Worried, Silly, Nervous):
Description: Children in the Yellow Zone might experience heightened emotions such as frustration, worry, or excitement. They may have lost some control over their ability to regulate their emotions.
Regulation Strategies: Help the child identify their feelings = deep breathing, counting to ten, or talking to a trusted adult. Encourage problem-solving and teach them how to recognise what is triggering them.
Red Zone (Angry, Aggressive, Terrified, Out of Control):
Description: Children in the Red Zone are overwhelmed by intense emotions like anger, aggression, or extreme fear. They are in crisis mode and may have difficulty thinking clearly.
Regulation Strategies: Ensure safety first. Help the child calm down through techniques like taking deep breaths, using a stress ball, or finding a safe space to cool off. When they are ready, talk about what happened and fix the problem.

Homestay Family Reflection
‘Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.’ Hebrews 13:2
Konnichiwa! Flying all the way from Kyoto, Japan, Koko arrived at Melbourne Airport on Valentine's Day beginning her three-week placement at Resurrection school. During school hours Koko has been assisting Aiki Sensei and the staff members as she completes her Education degree with Doshisha University. Out of school hours three Resurrection school families have taken Koko into their homes as part of their families sharing meals, stories, and the activities of daily life together.
Some lessons and highlights from our time together include:
- Enjoying time spent crafting, playing music and learning about Japanese pop bands and Japanese calligraphy writing:
- Sharing both home-cooked meals and food from Melbourne's farmers markets & restaurants and, of course, exploring Melbourne's coffee scene and learning about each other's favourite foods and recipes.
- Learning to switch up our after-school activities by slowing down and spending time enjoying the Melbourne sunsets and taking a stroll along Melbourne’s beaches and laneways.
We were a little nervous at the start but with Koko’s kindness, enthusiasm and warm nature, we quickly learnt that all the adjustments, preparations and being out of our comfort zones was worth it. We have gained so much being a homestay host including seeing our own daily lives through fresh eyes and playing tourist in our hometown.
Thank you, Aiki Sensei, for organising such an enriching exchange and thank you Koko for all the lifelong memories you’ve given us. You have such a nurturing way with people, especially children - your future students will be so blessed. We wish you all the very best with your studies and future adventures.
Times Tables Rock Stars Competition (Reminder)
Students may soon become very enthusiastic about practising their times tables! This is because an exciting competition is taking place on the Times Tables Rock Stars platform.
The competition runs from March 10 to March 12 and is free for students, as our school already has a subscription. We’re hoping to see one of our classes crowned champions!
Years 1-2 Competition is based on time spent learning rather than correct answers or learning progress.
Kind regards,
2027 Prep Enrolments Are Now Open
We are already receiving many enrolment applications from new families; which is a wonderful sign!
To assist us in our preparation and planning, we are encouraging our current parents to please collect and complete an enrolment form and to return it as soon as possible.

SUNDAY GOSPEL
3rd Sunday of Lent - Year A
We Reflect
The Woman of Samaria came, sinful, but open to something better and greater. The mess that was her life had not worked out, which is why she came to the well at noon, the hottest time of the day, the time no one else would be there, such was her shame and her need to avoid others. Not for her the line of chatting, laughing women in the cool of the day. Her lot was the walk of shame, slinking to the well in the heat when no one was around. But someone was there. Jesus was waiting. The light was on for her.
After the saving encounter with Jesus, she left her water-jar behind empty, a sign of her former life that led to emptiness. She became a vessel of the waters of eternal life, the waters of forgiveness and peace. Christ had prepared this moment for her. He prepares similar moments for us. He longs to forgive and free us. “If only you knew the gift of God,” he says to each of us (John 4:10).
We Read John 4:5-15, 19b-26, 39a, 40-42
Jesus came to a town of Samaria called Sychar,
near the plot of land that Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob’s well was there.
Jesus, tired from his journey, sat down there at the well. It was about noon.
A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her,
“Give me a drink.”
His disciples had gone into the town to buy food. The Samaritan woman said to him,
“How can you, a Jew, ask me, a Samaritan woman, for a drink?”
—For Jews use nothing in common with Samaritans.—
Jesus answered and said to her,
“If you knew the gift of God and who is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,‘ you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”
The woman said to him,
“Sir, you do not even have a bucket and the cistern is deep;
where then can you get this living water?
Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us this cistern and drank from it himself with his children and his flocks?”
Jesus answered and said to her,
“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again; but whoever drinks the water I shall give will never thirst; the water I shall give will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
The woman said to him,
“Sir, give me this water, so that I may not be thirsty or have to keep coming here to draw water.
“I can see that you are a prophet. Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain; but you people say that the place to worship is in Jerusalem.”
Jesus said to her,
“Believe me, woman, the hour is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.
You people worship what you do not understand; we worship what we understand, because salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and truth; and indeed the Father seeks such people to worship him. God is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in Spirit and truth.”
The woman said to him,
“I know that the Messiah is coming, the one called the Christ; when he comes, he will tell us everything.”
Jesus said to her,
“I am he, the one who is speaking with you.”
Many of the Samaritans of that town began to believe in him.
When the Samaritans came to him, they invited him to stay with them; and he stayed there two days. Many more began to believe in him because of his word, and they said to the woman,
“We no longer believe because of your word; for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is truly the savior of the world.”
