Term 4 Week 6 of 11
Friday, 14th November 2025
Message from the Principal
Term 4 is flying by, and it’s hard to believe we’re nearing the end of another school year. As I’ve mentioned in previous newsletters, much of our focus has been on preparing for 2025. At the same time, significant energy is already being directed toward planning for 2026.
This week, our school leadership team came together to reflect on our progress and begin shaping the path ahead. We took time to celebrate the achievements we’ve made in 2025 and, just as importantly, to build momentum as we look toward 2026.
We remain deeply committed to:
Creating a safe and caring environment that focuses on the wellbeing of our students and providing staffing and skills to help our students thrive
Being a school that learns about and lives out its faith
Focussing on the teaching of English and Maths with a particular emphasis on teaching the skills needed to achieve this in an explicit and well-planned way
Delivering a rich and engaging curriculum that gives our students many opportunities to learn through exciting experiences
Investing in the professional growth of our staff to ensure we meet the needs of our students
On Monday, 17th November, our students will take an important step toward the 2026 school year. They’ll have the opportunity to meet their new classroom teachers and future classmates, helping to build familiarity and confidence as they prepare for the year ahead.
This transition experience is designed to:
Ease any nerves by introducing students to their new learning environment
Foster early connections with peers and teachers
Set the tone for a positive and successful start to 2026
We’re looking forward to seeing the excitement and energy this day brings!
Below is a list of the classroom teachers in each year level in preparation for your children meeting them on Monday.
We welcome
Effie Malamatinas an experienced Prep teacher joining us from Mother of God in Ardeer
Jester Bulson an experienced teacher joining us from Corpus Christi in Werribee
Amy Curmi who has recently completed her teaching rounds very impressively with us and has been employed as a teacher.
We farewell
Katherine Saloum who is leaving to work in a youth justice facility as a teacher.
Dorothy Hall who is travelling and doing relief teaching at a variety of schools.
Thomas Pham who has taken up a classroom position at Holy Eucharist in St Albans.
We will formally thank these staff members in upcoming newsletters.
St Vincent De Pauls Christmas Appeal Donations
As we begin to approach the end of the year and look forward to Christmas, for members in our community that are less fortunate than us it means a time of greater stress. This year especially has seen an increase in the number of people who have lost jobs, been victims of violence or in financial difficulty. As part of our parish our St Vincent De Paul group will be helping these families before Christmas and look to our parishioners and their generous support to assist us. For those that can, we ask for the following:
Christmas hampers for families (feel free to make your own) non-perishable grocery items, books, puzzles and activities for children toys for children all our St Vinnie’s members will represent each of you as we will deliver these generous gifts on your behalf. We would like to extend our gratitude and thanks for your continuous support.
Best wishes
Deputy Principal
Years 1-6 Transition Sessions
This coming week, we have the first of two Years 1-6 Transition mornings where our students will meet their 2026 teacher and classmates. The dates for these sessions are listed below:
Monday 17th November: 9:30am - 10:30am
Monday 24th November: 9:30am - 10:30am
Please note: Children should arrive at school at the regular 8:30am start time for a full day of school on these days. In these sessions, your child will meet their 2026 teacher, begin to familiarise themselves with their new learning space and their peers. Creating balanced class groups is like forming a diverse group of around 26 students, each with unique experiences, skills, and abilities. We consider each student’s personality, talents, and social, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs and strengths. Although this task is complex, your input, understanding and support is much appreciated.
Prep Transition Continues!
Today we had the second of four Prep transitions! A reminder that we will also have sessions on Friday 21st and Friday 28th November, where the children will stay in their new learning spaces from 9am to 10:30am. It has been wonderful seeing the students engage in such a very special time.
2026 Student Leadership
The 2026 student leadership process continues, and we have been so impressed with the aspiring leaders in our senior school. Our students have bravely stood in front of their peers, putting forth their skills, passions and vision for our school. This week we announced the appointed house leaders for 2026. The next round of leaders will be announced in next week’s newsletter! Well done to all students who have put themselves forward and have shown interest in leading here at Resurrection Catholic Primary School!
Wellbeing, Child Safety & Community Leader
Dynamic Young citizens
Our school leaders have completed a 4-day Dynamic Young Citizen program offered by Brimbank council. Our student leaders attended a full day workshop each term and had the opportunity to learn about the council and grow as leaders.
Congratulations Chris Q, Anthony L, Keiara D and Noami L for representing our school.

Sacraments 2026
An Operoo outlining our Sacramental Program for 2026 has been emailed out to all families. Please complete the form as soon as possible to assist our planning for next year. A reminder that the Sacraments offered by our parish are reserved for those who are baptised Catholic and would like to continue their Sacramental journey.
Pilgrims of Hope activities
To promote our current Jubilee Year, we have been holding a few activities around the school to: help us explore what 'hope ‘means, to strengthen our relationship with God, and to join our wider Catholic community by participating in Jubilee Year activities.
Resurrection Student Pilgrimage
Pilgrimages are a wonderful way of having quiet time with God. Walking long distances allows us to spend time in deep prayer and reflection. We are encouraged to participate in pilgrimages during the Jubilee Year, and so a group of Senior students along with Mr. Glasby and myself completed a walk from St. Patrick’s Cathedral to St. Mary Star of the Sea. Both churches are official ‘Pilgrim Places’ within our archdiocese.
Pilgrims of Hope Morning
On Tuesday morning, our student leaders led our houses in a ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ morning, where they promoted our Jubilee Year through various ‘hope-filled’ activities. Here are images from our morning:

Expression of Interest to Host a Japanese University Student – Term 1, 2026
We are excited to share a wonderful opportunity! A Japanese university student teacher will be visiting our school from 14 February to 7 March 2026 to support your child’s Japanese learning.
We are seeking expressions of interest from school families who would be happy to host the student—either for one week or for the full three-week period.
The visiting student is female and has an allergy to cats, so unfortunately families with cats are unable to participate on this occasion.
To become a host family, you will need to:
• Hold a Working with Children Check (Volunteer).
• Pick up the student from the airport on 14 February and/or drop her off at the airport at the end of her stay (if hosting during the first or third week). During weekdays, drop the student off at school in the morning and pick her up after school.
• Provide breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a private room for the student.
This is a voluntary opportunity; however, a small contribution may be provided to help cover meal costs.
If your family meets the above requirements and would like to host the Japanese student, please express your interest by 18 November 2025 (as soon as possible).
Should you have any questions about this opportunity, please don’t hesitate to contact me by email at yaiki@rskingspark.catholic.edu.au
SUNDAY GOSPEL
Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time
Luke 21:5-19
While some people were speaking about how the temple was adorned with costly stones and votive offerings, Jesus said, "All that you see here the days will come when there will not be left a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down." Then they asked him,
"Teacher, when will this happen? And what sign will there be when all these things are about to happen?"
He answered, "See that you not be deceived, for many will come in my name, saying,
'I am he,' and 'The time has come.' Do not follow them! When you hear of wars and insurrections,
do not be terrified; for such things must happen first, but it will not immediately be the end."
Then he said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
There will be powerful earthquakes, famines, and plagues from place to place;
and awesome sights and mighty signs will come from the sky.
"Before all this happens, however,
they will seize and persecute you, they will hand you over to the synagogues and to prisons,
and they will have you led before kings and governors because of my name.
It will lead to your giving testimony. Remember, you are not to prepare your defense beforehand,
for I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking that all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute. You will even be handed over by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends,
and they will put some of you to death. You will be hated by all because of my name,
but not a hair on your head will be destroyed. By your perseverance you will secure your lives."

St Vinnies Christmas Appeal
As the year draws to a close and we prepare for the joy of Christmas, it's important to remember that this season can be especially challenging for those in our community who are doing it tough.
St Vincent de Paul will be offering support to families in need ahead of Christmas, and we’re calling on the generosity of our parishioners to help make this possible.
If you’re able to contribute, we kindly ask for donations of: Christmas hampers for families (you’re welcome to create your own), books, puzzles, and activity sets for children, toys for children.
Your kindness can bring comfort and joy to those who need it most this Christmas. Thank you for your continued support. All our St Vinnie’s members will represent each of you as we will deliver these generous gifts on your behalf.
God Bless you all from St Vinnies team.
