Term 3 Week 2 of 9

Friday, 1st August 2025

Message from the Principal

Dear parents/carers,

Term 3 is well underway, and I’m pleased to say our students are working hard. As you would be aware through last term’s newsletters we have made some improvements to our PBL system at our school.  Our students are overall well behaved. The three major pillars of our PBL remain the same:

  • Respectful

  • Responsible

  • Resilient

Marie D’Orazio will address these more in the Student Wellbeing section of the newsletter. Last week and this week Marie and I have visited every class from Year 3-6 to talk about the expected behaviours at our school and how we can be respectful, responsible and resilient members of our school community. It was a great opportunity to discuss the expectations but also importantly celebrate how well our students do with this.

In the class visits we spoke to the students about one important part of being responsible which I like to refer to as “owning our behaviour”. We talked about the fact that we will all make mistakes, but the important thing is that we recognise these mistakes and own them. When we own mistakes, we can improve and move on. I gave the example of a child who calls out in class and when reminded not to do so, says that they didn't.  This can often be a natural reaction but one that gets in the way of improving.  We talked about the best way to react when being warned or challenged on a behaviour and to own what we are doing.

We will continue to use our Positive PBL Rewards to celebrate students doing the right thing. It’s

a pleasure to see the enjoyment our students get out of this and the incentive for students to continue to improve.

  • Monday 21st July (First day of Term 3 -Tuesday July 22)

  • Monday 18th August

On both days, Resurrection staff will be undergoing professional learning.

Wishing everyone good health throughout the school holidays.

As we head into the colder months, we kindly remind families to keep children at home if they are feeling unwell. Whether it's a cough, sore throat, fever, or general signs of illness, staying home helps protect classmates, teachers, and other families.

Best wishes,

Deputy Principal: Learning & Organisation

Learning Diversity Leader

At Resurrection we celebrate the rich diversity of learners in every classroom. Our students come with a wide range of strengths, challenges, learning needs, including those with Autism, ADHD, PDA, anxiety, learning disabilities, and other neurodiverse profiles. Our teachers work hard to create inclusive, supportive environments where every student can thrive. This includes using flexible teaching strategies, offering visual supports, adjusting tasks to match individual learning styles, and working closely with learning support staff. We also collaborate with families and specialists to ensure students receive the tailored support they need.

Inclusion is more than a goal—it’s a daily practice that helps every student feel seen, valued, and capable.

Religious Education Leader

Grandparent’s Day is always a wonderful celebration, recognising the significant impact of our grandparents and great grandparents in our lives. Through the intercession of St. Anne and St. Joachim (Jesus’ grandparents), we were able to hold a prayer service to pray for our grandparents, before spending time with each other in our classrooms. We then finished the morning with a Morning Tea spread in the hall. We thank all who were able to join us, and we also give a special thank you to the grandparents who had a special role during the morning’s service.

St. Anne and St. Joachim, pray for us!

Here’s a reflection from Elizabeth in 5A:

“On Grandparents Day, my grandparents came to celebrate with me. They came and proudly sat next to me whilst I created a heartwarming piece of art for them. They were delighted to receive another piece of artwork made especially for them.”

The Sacrament of Confirmation: 4 weeks to go!

As our community of Resurrection prepares our Year 6 students to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, here are some weekly reflections on the gifts and fruits of the Spirit, which will guide our soon to be newly confirmed on their continued journey of faith.

Gift of the Spirit: Counsel

Helps us make the right decision, acknowledging God’s will and way.

Q: When have you experienced doubt or uncertainty in a decision? How did you seek clarity and guidance?

Fruit of the Spirit: Peace

Living with a sense of wholeness and harmony with God and others.

Q: How do you respond to conflict? Are you a peacemaker?

“...whatever gifts I have been given, I place them at your service” - St. Augustine

In Faith,

Inform and Empower

For several years now, Resurrection has been utilising the expertise of the crew at Inform & Empower. The award-winning live incursions have helped our students make good decisions whilst online. Last term the senior students participated in a live online quiz (Kahoot) about digital safety, against thousands of students from across Australia.
Two Grade 5 students, Kayla V (5B) and Elizabeth C (5A) managed to beat 1,951 other teams of two to win the quiz. The students received a digital shoutout from the team at Inform & Empower, a certificate and a place on the wall of fame. Well done to the dynamic duo and to all students who continue to make good choices online.

2025 Art Show- ‘Harmony’

The students of Resurrection Primary School have worked very hard this year to learn about art concepts such as the ‘Elements of Art’ and ‘Principles of Design’. They have created many different styles of art inspired by different art techniques, famous artists, famous movements and their own passions.

In order to recognise and celebrate their artistic learning, we are hosting an Art Show so that you can share in all of their hard work and creativity.

On the night, we will have a cultural fashion show to highlight all the wonderful communities that make up our school, face painters, caricature artists, a silent auction to purchase your favourite class piece, a coffee van and of course lots of art!

If you are interested in participating in our cultural fashion show, please fill out the Operoo form- coming soon.

SUNDAY GOSPEL

18th Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year C

We reflect:

The moral of this Gospel is: earthly treasures rust, rot or are left to others when we die, but our spiritual accomplishments: good deeds, charity, honesty and love (all riches in the eyes of God) can be carried with us into eternal life.

So let us not go into heaven empty handed. God wants us to enjoy life and the things that He created for us, but there are boundaries and balances, which must be observed for our own good.

All loving fathers recognize that these are necessary for a balanced life and that is what the above readings for this Sunday are all about. So, let us ask ourselves the question that should make us stop and think: "Am I rich in the things that matter to God?”

We read Luke 12:13-21 :

One of the multitude said to him, “Teacher, bid my brother divide the inheritance with me.” But he said to him, “Man, who made me a judge or divider over you?” And he said to them, “Take heed, and beware of all covetousness; for a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

And he told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man brought forth plentifully; and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’

And he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns, and build larger ones; and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, be merry.’

But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you; and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

The Gospel of the Lord,

Praise to You Lord Jesus Christ!
