Term 2 Week 1 of 10

Friday, 24th April 2026

Message from the Principal

Dear parents/carers,

A big welcome back to our students, parents and family members. It’s great to see you all back at school and ready for a busy term ahead.A huge thank you to our wonderful mums who ran the Easter Egg Raffle at the end of last Term. It's amazing how giving our community is. I’ve never seen so many Easter eggs in my life.  We raised $1,344 which will go toward even more lunch time sporting equipment for our students. I'm looking forward to a great term of learning and celebrating together. Watching our students grow in their education and maturity.

There are some major events happening that I wish to give a special notice to:

  • ●      Monday May 4 - Mother Day Stall (run by our parents) - parents have been emailed

    ●      Thursday May 7 - 9am -11am -Mother’s Day Mass and Morning Tea

    ●       Sunday May 25 - 10.30am - Parish 50th Celebration Mass

    ●      Wednesday June 25 - 9am- End of Term Mass

This week we say farewell to Erica, who has been a valued member of Resurrection for the past 13 years. From the moment she joined our community, she brought dedication, compassion, and a deep sense of purpose to her work.

Erica has served as an exceptional religious leader, guiding others with a steady commitment to the Catholic faith. Her ability to lead with both conviction and gentleness has helped shape a culture rooted in service, prayer, and genuine care for others.

We are grateful for all she has given to Resurrection and wish her every blessing as she begins her new role.

Term 2 commences back on Tuesday 21st April, see you all then!

Best wishes

Deputy Principal

Winter Uniform Reminder – Term 2

As we begin Term 2, we’d like to remind all families that term 2 all students need to wear their full winter uniform. The cooler weather often means extra layers, so please ensure that all jumpers and outerwear are clearly labelled with your child’s name. This helps us return misplaced items quickly and reduces the growing collection in lost property.

A reminder that school hats are not required during Terms 2 and 3. This is a great opportunity to take them home, give them a wash or refresh if needed, and have them ready to return for Term 4, when sun-smart requirements resume.

Thank you for your support in keeping our uniform standards high and helping students stay organised throughout the year.

2026 Whole School Photo Day

Monday 11th May

We are excited to announce that school photos are now available for ordering.

Attached are the ordering instructions and all orders must be completed online via the Elite School Photography website: https://eliteschoolphotography.com.au/ prior to the photo day on Monday 11th May using the login code ESP202515.

To ensure that there is a consistency across all photos regarding the wearing of the school uniform and that our formal school photos represent both your child and the school as best as we possibly can, we have asked that all students are in the school’s Winter Uniform (see above). Students who normally have sport on that day are asked to wear their full school Winter Uniform.

We are aware that there are several families that will be away on extended holidays. Therefore, we have arranged for a photo catch up day just in case you're not back by Monday 1th May. The photo catch up day has been booked for Monday May 18th with only siblings (family and individual photos are taken.

Family Curriculum Overviews

Keep an eye out for the Term 2 curriculum overviews for families which will be posted to Seesaw for your reference. This gives a great snapshot of what learning is taking place at school and even highlights some helpful tips for you to support learning at home. Special dates are also listed on the overview that are relevant to your child’s year level.

Road safety at pick up and drop off times

There are some parents parking in the designated ‘No Stopping’ zones on Myuna Drive and Gum Road.

These zones, marked with ‘No Stopping 8:15–9:15am & 3:00–4:00pm on School Days’, are in place to reduce traffic congestion and enhance the safety of our students during peak drop-off and pick-up times.

Keeping these areas clear helps all drivers safely enter and exit the school’s internal car park and improves visibility and safety at the Myuna Drive and Gum Road intersection during these busy times.

We sincerely thank all parents and guardians who continue to follow the rules and contribute to a safer environment for our school community.

Please be aware that council officers may carry out spot checks, and fines for parking in a ‘No Stopping’ zone can range from $96 to $192.

Let’s work together to keep our students safe and to keep the traffic safe and flowing!

School Fees & CSEF Applications

Welcome back to Term 2. I hope everyone enjoyed a restful break. Earlier this week, families should have received their Term 2 statements via email. If you have not seen yours, please check your junk or spam folder.

Thank you to the families who have already attended to their school fee commitments. Your timely support helps the school provide valuable resources, programs and opportunities that benefit all students. Please note that school fees were due on 10 March 2026, unless a payment plan has been arranged with the school. Families experiencing financial difficulty are encouraged to contact the school to discuss confidential support or alternative payment arrangements. Please contact the school office or email accounts@rskingspark.catholic.edu.au for assistance.

Families applying for the Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF) are reminded to submit all required application forms and supporting documentation to the school office or via email. Forms were distributed via email at the beginning of the year, and hard copies are also available from the Office if needed. CSEF funding can be used toward eligible camps, sports and excursion costs. If you believe you are eligible and have not yet applied, please do so as soon as possible to ensure funding can be allocated to your child’s eligible activities without delay. Please note that meeting Department of Education deadlines is the responsibility of the applicant, and the school cannot accept responsibility for late submissions. Please also be aware that if a CSEF application is declined, this decision is outside the school’s control, and the family account will remain subject to full school fees.

If you require assistance or have any questions regarding CSEF eligibility, please contact me via email at accounts@rskingspark.catholic.edu.au.

Celebrating Mother’s Day

We are delighted to invite you to a special Mother’s Day Celebration at Resurrection on Thursday, 7th May

Join us as we come together to honor and appreciate the incredible mothers, grandmothers, and mother figures in our lives.

Schedule for the Day:9:00am – Mother’s Day MassClassroom Visits – A chance to see the wonderful work our students have been doingMorning Tea held in the hall at approximately 10.30am to 11am – A time to connect and celebrate with one another

We would love for you to share in this joyous occasion, filled with gratitude, warmth, and community spirit.

Looking forward to celebrating with you!

Welcome back to school!

As we start Term 2, here are some ways to keep your child’s ENERGY & MOTIVATION LEVELS fully charged.

  1. Help them to Stay positive. Even when things go wrong - talk about it - try to find a solution - if it can be repaired, either let it go or ask for school support.

  1. Talk to your child about what their goals are for this term. Ask them - “What would you like to achieve or improve this term?” Come up with a plan that has small steps to ensure success.

  1. Routines are so important. Especially bedtimes.

Sleep is vital for a child's growth, brain development, immunity, and emotional regulation, with 3–5 year olds needing 10–13 hours, and 6–12-year-olds needing 9–11 hours. Adequate sleep improves concentration, memory, and behaviour, while reducing irritability and strengthening the immune system.

  1. Limit devices - Remember to stop them at least 2 hours before bedtime.

  1. Ensure Healthy SNACKS & LUNCHES - don’t forget to add FRUIT BREAK.

Let’s have a GREEN ZONE Term 2.

Year Level Masses for Term 2

The Eucharist is the ‘source and summit’ of our Christian life, and at our school, it is no different. Offering opportunities to gather and celebrate Holy Mass together as a community is an integral part of our school life. Our Year Level Masses are organised and run by the staff and students from each respective level. Aristotle famously says, "what we have to learn to do, we learn by doing," and what better way for our students to learn about Mass, than to participate in the organisation of it.

If you are available, we would love your attendance and support at the following Masses:

●    Seniors (Yrs 5 and 6) will be leading our Mother’s Day Mass on Thursday 7th of May at 9am

●    Middles (Yrs 3 and 4) Thursday 14th of May at 2:30pm

●    Juniors (Yrs 1 and 2) Wednesday 20th of May at 2:30pm

●    Year Prep Thursday 28th of May at 2:30pm

Important reminder for Sacrament of First Eucharist communicants - Formation Evening, next Wednesday, 29th of April at 7pm with Fr Luke Bulley (for both parents and communicants

A quick final note to say..

13 years ago, I walked through Resurrection’s school doors as Miss. Carreon - a fresh teacher, eager to learn and passionate about teaching. Over the years, so much has happened but throughout it all what remained was my passion for teaching fueled by God’s call to empower students to recognise their full potential and the beauty in who God had created them to be.

Serving the parish of Kings Park has been an absolute honour, and as I close this chapter at Resurrection Parish Catholic Primary School, I’d like to thank the entire Resurrection community: Fr. Gerard, families, parishioners, staff and of course students who I have had the great privilege to work with over the years. Thank you for your trust, your encouragement and your support. May God bless you and keep you. You will always be in my prayers.

Sincerely,

SUNDAY GOSPEL

Fourth Sunday of Easter - Year A

Jesus said:

"Amen, amen, I say to you,

whoever does not enter a sheepfold through the gate

but climbs over elsewhere is a thief and a robber.

But whoever enters through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep.

The gatekeeper opens it for him, and the sheep hear his voice,

as the shepherd calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.

When he has driven out all his own,

he walks ahead of them, and the sheep follow him,

because they recognize his voice.

But they will not follow a stranger;

they will run away from him,

because they do not recognize the voice of strangers."

Although Jesus used this figure of speech,

the Pharisees did not realize what he was trying to tell them.

So Jesus said again, "Amen, amen, I say to you,

I am the gate for the sheep.

All who came before me are thieves and robbers,

but the sheep did not listen to them.

I am the gate.

Whoever enters through me will be saved,

and will come in and go out and find pasture.

A thief comes only to steal and slaughter and destroy;

I came so that they might have life and have it more abundan
