Term 1 Week 3 of 10

Friday, 13th February 2026

Message from the Principal

Dear parents/carers,

I could not be more impressed by the way our students have settled in this year. It has been a very calm and focussed beginning to 2026 with our students really displaying the qualities of respect, resilience and responsibility. Our staff have been working with the students on behaviour expectations and clear and consistent approaches to ways of being and working together at our school. It’s been wonderful to see our newest members of our community, our 2026 Preps settling in well too.

Prep 2026

Just a reminder that our Preps come to school four days a week but do not come to school on

Wednesdays until Wednesday March 11. After that they are at school five days a week.

Prep 2027

We have two 2027 Prep school tours coming up soon. Existing parents are welcome to these as well

as new families. They are:

●      Tuesday, 24th February at 9.30 am

●      Wednesday, 25th February at 7pm

This is a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase our school to prospective parents. Please let families who you know are interested in our school about these two sessions. Families only need to attend one session.

Lunchtime Sports Equipment

Last year at our Christmas Carols our parents ran a very successful raffle on this night that had just been spent on new sports equipment for our students.

Special Invite to Mass

At the 10.30am Mass on Sunday February 22 we will be celebrating our beginning of the Year Mass with our parish. Resurrection staff will be in attendance and will receive a commissioning and blessing for the new year. Looking forward to seeing families at Mass.

School Closure Day Monday February 23

Just a reminder that there is no school on this day. Staff are involved in professional learning.

Labour Day Public Holiday Monday March 9

Just a reminder there is no school on this day as it is a public holiday

Sacramental Launch

Last weekend we had our Mass to launch the sacraments for 2026. Thanks to the families that

attended. We have noted that there are a large group of families who did not come along. A

reminder that the launch continues at Mass this weekend and attending one of these launch masses

is an important part of your child’s preparation for First Eucharist and confirmation. You can attend

Mass at 6pm on Saturday or 10.30am on Sunday.

Best wishes

Deputy Principal

Parent Helper Training Program

We greatly value the partnership between parents and staff, and any extra help is always appreciated.

Fortunately, many parents genuinely want to visit the classroom in the mornings and assist with the learning program. To support this, and to maintain the quality of teaching and learning, we are introducing a Classroom Parent Helpers Training Program.

This course will cover ways parents can help in the classroom by working with small groups of children and serving as learning role models. It also ensures that parents are educated on the correct protocols when working with students, such as maintaining child safety, making fair judgments about other children, and upholding confidentiality.

For the benefit of all children in the classroom, younger siblings should not be present during training sessions.

Training will be available at the following times. Please note that you only need to attend one session in the staff room:

●    Tuesday, February 24th at 2:15 pm.

●    Thursday, February 26th at 8:45 am.

All sessions will be held in the staff room, facilitated by Ms Marie D’Orazio (Wellbeing, Child Safety and Community Leader) & Mrs Veronica Kulkewycz (Learning Diversity Leader). Please check in with the office staff upon arrival for your session.

Want to help but can’t commit to times during the school day?

We have a large number of new books that have arrived that need to be contacted (covered)! If you are able to assist with this, please email the office staff and we will organise some items to be collected from the office.

Wellbeing, Community & Child Safety Leader

We are a PBL School at Resurrection

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is an evidence-based, whole-school framework used to create safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environments. It focuses on explicitly TEACHING, MODELLING, and REINFORCING expected positive behaviours to improve social, emotional, and academic outcomes for all our students.

Our PBL matrix below illustrates our 3 main expectations and how the students can demonstrate them.

HOW CAN HOME SUPPORT PBL?

  1. Talk about each school expectation and the examples on the matrix. Ask your child/ren how they can show these at school.

  2. Talk about how the 3 Rs can be shown at home = Respect, Responsible & Resilience.

Important Update: Transition to nForma

We hope that all parents are now familiar with the new platform and have had a chance to log in and respond to a few forms. If you haven’t logged into the nPortal app, please do so. Please ensure the email address used is the same email that is linked to the school. If unsure, please contact the office and they can assist you.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we move to this new system, which will streamline communication and ensure a more efficient process for both staff and families.

Reminder to update your child’s Grade in QKR app!

A friendly reminder to please update your child’s grade in the QKR app. Keeping this information current helps our canteen team organise and distribute lunches smoothly, ensuring your child receives their order on time. We’ve noticed a number of students still listed with last year’s grade, which can cause a bit of confusion during distribution.

Thank you for taking a moment to check and update your details

Friendly Reminder for Families

Just a quick note to ask all parents to please send two boxes of tissues to your child’s classroom. These supplies help keep our room stocked and support everyone through the sniffle season.

Thank you for your help and support!

Times Tables Rock Stars Competition

We’d like to give parents a heads-up that children in Years 3 to 6 may soon become very enthusiastic about practising their times tables! This is because an exciting competition is taking place on the Times Tables Rock Stars platform.

The competition runs from March 10 to March 12 and is free for students, as our school already has a subscription. We’re hoping to see one of our classes crowned champions!

Our wonderful teachers will provide all the information and support your child needs to take part, so you can simply sit back and enjoy watching their motivation and confidence grow as they get involved.

Kind regards,

Religious Education Leader

Lent is just around the corner (Literally, it’s next Wednesday!)

Ash Wednesday Masses (18th of February):

Whole School Mass at 10.00am

Evening Mass with Parish at 7.00pm

Reminder - Sacrament Launch: If you haven’t already attended last week’s launch, all students partaking in the Sacraments of First Eucharist and Confirmation this year are required to attend this weekend’s Saturday 6pm or Sunday 10:30am Masses.

SUNDAY GOSPEL

6th Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year A

We Read                                                                                                                                                                  Matthew 5:17-37

Jesus said to his disciples:

"Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.

Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter

will pass from the law, until all things have taken place.

Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so

will be called least in the kingdom of heaven.

But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments

will be called greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

I tell you, unless your righteousness surpasses

that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

"You have heard that it was said to your ancestors,

You shall not kill; and whoever kills will be liable to judgment.

But I say to you, whoever is angry with his brother

will be liable to judgment; and whoever says to his brother, 'Raqa,' will be answerable to the Sanhedrin;

and whoever says, 'You fool,' will be liable to fiery Gehenna.

Therefore, if you bring your gift to the altar, and there recall that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift there at the altar, go first and be reconciled with your brother,

and then come and offer your gift. Settle with your opponent quickly while on the way to court.

Otherwise your opponent will hand you over to the judge, and the judge will hand you over to the guard,

and you will be thrown into prison.

Amen, I say to you, you will not be released until you have paid the last penny.

"You have heard that it was said,

You shall not commit adultery. But I say to you, everyone who looks at a woman with lust

has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away.

It is better for you to lose one of your members than to have your whole body thrown into Gehenna.

And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away.

It is better for you to lose one of your members than to have your whole body go into Gehenna.

"It was also said,

Whoever divorces his wife must give her a bill of divorce.

But I say to you, whoever divorces his wife -  unless the marriage is unlawful - causes her to commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

"Again you have heard that it was said to your ancestors,

Do not take a false oath, but make good to the Lord all that you vow.

But I say to you, do not swear at all; not by heaven, for it is God's throne; nor by the earth, for it is his footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.

Do not swear by your head, for you cannot make a single hair white or black.

Let your 'Yes' mean 'Yes,' and your 'No' mean 'No.'

Anything more is from the evil one."

The Gospel of the Lord,

Praise to You Lord Jesus Christ
