Message from the Principal
Dear parents/carers,
This is our final newsletter for 2025. What a wonderful year we have shared together. Our Christmas Carols were a wonderful final school event to finish this year. They were a fantastic opportunity for us to celebrate our faith and our wonderful students with our community.
I wish to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful staff of Resurrection for all the work they do in their many different roles in our school. Thanks to our teachers for what they have done for our students through their care, concern and effort. Thanks to all our office staff whether they are in the front office or working in other offices for their hard work, expertise, organisation and sense of welcome. Thanks to the LSO’s for the individual care and guidance they provide for our students. Thanks to my leaders for the hard work, passion and expertise they bring to their roles. I truly appreciate all the work of our staff!
Thanks to our students for another year of achieving your personal best and being the inspiration behind what we do. Thank you to our parents for placing your trust in our school and working with us.
And now we come to the wonderful celebration of Christmas. For me, Christmas is the celebration of the Incarnation—the profound mystery of God becoming a humble human in the person of Jesus Christ to bring salvation and show his infinite love. His birth in Bethlehem as a vulnerable child is a sign of hope, a call to love one another, and an opportunity for spiritual renewal and peace.
Merry Christmas and a wonderful holiday period to all.
Best wishes
Deputy Principal
Merry Christamas to All!
As we approach the end of the school year, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all members of our Resurrection Catholic Primary School community - students, families and staff. Christmas is a wonderful time to reflect, give thanks, and appreciate the connections that make our school such a welcoming and supportive place for children to learn and grow.
I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a safe, relaxing holiday. I hope the break gives you time to rest, enjoy time with loved ones, and celebrate the year’s achievements.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership in your child’s education. The strength of our school lies in the shared commitment between families and staff—working together to support student learning, wellbeing, and a strong sense of belonging. Your trust, encouragement, and involvement are truly appreciated.
As I step away for 2026 to lead and support at St Mary’s, I wish you all a wonderful year ahead filled with success, joy, and new opportunities. I look forward to returning to my Deputy Principal role in 2027 with energy, experience and excitement for the journey ahead.
Wishing you a peaceful Christmas and an abundant new year.
God Bless,
Wellbeing, Community & Child Safety Leader

Important Update: Transition from Operoo to nForma
We would like to inform you that Operoo will cease by the end of January 2026. As mentioned in our previous newsletter, moving forward we will be using nForma as our new platform to send out all correspondence that requires a parent response. This includes notices regarding excursions, camps, and any other communication where your input is needed.
To support you during this transition, we have attached a Parent Guideline to this newsletter. We kindly ask that you take the time to read through the document and familiarise yourself with the new portal.
Logging into the nPortal App is simple. There are multiple ways that you can login into the app. The main thing to remember is to ensure that the email being used to login, is the same email that is linked to the school. If unsure, please contact the office and they can assist you.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we move to this new system, which will streamline communication and ensure a more efficient process for both staff and families.
Thank you for your attention to this important update.
Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Music Workshops
Last Thursday the 4th of December, our school was visited by some members of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra as part of the "Jams In Schools" initiative for primary school students to engage with orchestral music and orchestral instruments.
MSO Artist in Residence and leading music education specialist, Karen Kyriakou and six MSO musicians (piano/ keyboard, violin, clarinet, cello, horn, percussion) took students through the music of Stravinsky's well known orchestral score "The Firebird", pulling out musical themes which students played along with on drum sticks, tapping sticks and shaker instruments.
Well done to all of our students right across the school for their behaviour and enthusiastic participation in the music workshops; a great opportunity for everyone to experience the wonderful sounds of orchestral music!
Religious Education
Your feedback is important to us
The celebration of Mass is a pivotal part of our Catholic faith, and central to the life & mission of our school. We are very fortunate to work so closely with Fr. Gerard and our Parish, and have access to the Sacraments regularly.
We will continue to have our Year Level Masses next year and we would love our school community to participate more actively in them. Your feedback is important to us and will help us improve our programs. Please fill out this 20 second survey via the QR code.
Luce’s Pilgrimage to Prep!
The Preps welcomed Luce - the Jubilee Year mascot - into their classrooms this past week. Here are some writing pieces the Preps wrote about her!
Well done Year 6s Last Thursday, our Year 6 students were able to respond to the call of the Spirit and hosted a Social Justice Fair, sharing a need they would like to combat in our world or in our communities and thus created a plan of action. It’s been a busy
Term and we thank our teachers and students for their efforts in presenting their projects during the fair!
Congratulations once again to Jessica and Aleksandr! Last week, both students were awarded their prizes which included generous donations from Veritatis Publishing and Zart Art! We are so grateful for their support
Lastly, may the spirit of this season fill your hearts and homes this Christmas time. Thank you for your continued support during 2025 and I hope you and yours have a blessed and Merry Christmas.
The Word became flesh and dwelt amongst us! Alleluia, Alleluia!

SUNDAY GOSPEL
Third Sunday of Advent, 2025
When John the Baptist heard in prison of the works of the Christ,
he sent his disciples to Jesus with this question,
"Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?"
Jesus said to them in reply, "Go and tell John what you hear and see:
the blind regain their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear,
the dead are raised, and the poor have the good news proclaimed to them.
And blessed is the one who takes no offense at me."
As they were going off, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John,
"What did you go out to the desert to see? A reed swayed by the wind?
Then what did you go out to see? Someone dressed in fine clothing?
Those who wear fine clothing are in royal palaces.
Then why did you go out? To see a prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.
This is the one about whom it is written:
Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you; he will prepare your way before you.
Amen, I say to you, among those born of women
there has been none greater than John the Baptist;
yet the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he."
The Gospel of the Lord: Praise to You Lord Jesus Christ!
Lost Property
Our office has recently noticed many lost property items piling up. Many of these belongings, jackets, hats and jumpers are unlabelled, which makes it very difficult for us to return them to their rightful owners.
To help us return items with your child quickly, we kindly ask all families to label every piece of clothing and personal item brought to school. A simple name tag or permanent marker can make all the difference in ensuring lost property finds its way home.
If your child is missing any belongings, please remember to check in with the office. We encourage parents and students to look through the lost property collection regularly, as unclaimed items will eventually be donated.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school community organised and ensuring that your child’s belongings don’t go astray.

Learning Diversity
I would like to clarify the use of LSOs and how the funding model works.
All schools including State, Catholic and Private have access to the NCCD. This stands for Nationally Consistent Collection of Data. Schools access some funding based on if they deem a child to have additional learning needs/and or a disability. The Australian Government uses this aggregated data to calculate disability loadings, which are distributed to states and territories.
The NCCD is broken into 4 levels, those being QDTP, Supplementary, Substantial and Extensive. At Resurrection we have many children sitting in these categories of need and often children can move between these categories but not necessarily.
Children sitting in the Extensive level of funding require an adult with them at all times to supervise them and support them in a mainstream learning environment and include many adjustments.
Children sitting in the Substantial level of adjustments require support at most times on most days.
Children sitting at the supplementary Level of adjustments require adjustments for particular activities at specific times throughout the week.
'
It is important to note that NCCD funding is allocated to support a wide range of needs within the school. This funding contributes to adjustments, specialised programs, assistive equipment, and even modifications to buildings to ensure access and safety for all learners. It also helps support the employment of Learning Support Officers; however, it does not cover the full cost of an LSO’s wage. For this reason, LSOs are often shared among several children, allowing us to provide balanced support across classrooms. This shared model not only ensures that resources are used effectively but also encourages students to develop independence and confidence in their learning wherever possible.
For more information, please visit https://www.nccd.edu.au/faq
Next year we welcome Katirna Griffiths who will work with teachers to implement adjustments supporting our neurodiverse children.
We also welcome Olivia Daquino who will replace Imogen Anton as our speech therapist. Olivia will be here 2 days a week.
Final reminder to please ensure you return to the school your child’s PLP signed.
