Message from the Principal

Dear parents/carers,

Our school year is certainly passing along quickly, and we are beginning to prepare for our

end of Year celebrations such as Christmas Carols and Year 6 Graduation.

Please bring along some $1 and $2 coins or some notes to be part of our End of Year Raffle to

be sold and drawn at our Christmas Carols. The prizes are

  • 1 Hoyts double pass

  • 5 x family passes from Brimbank Aquatic Centre

  • 2 $50 Bunnings vouchers from Bunnings Taylors Lakes

  • 1 Instamax camera bundle from Officeworks Caroline Springs

  • $50 dining voucher from Slices Caroline Springs

  • $20 Woolworths voucher from Woolworths Watervale

  • 2x $20 plaster packs

Thanks to our parents who organised this. All money made will go to the purchase of sports

equipment to be used by our students at break times.

Last newsletter I sent you some staffing news. In some further news, I wish to inform you that

Christine Tran (Grade 3 teacher 2025 and Grade 4 teacher 2026) will not be returning to

Resurrection for 2026 and beyond. At the time of writing this newsletter we are in the process of

employing two new Year 4 teachers. Interviews have just about to take place and I’ll inform

you of the new teachers next week.

With this newsletter we are sending out our 2026 Parent Handbook. This is new for our school.

The idea of this parent handbook is to give you a one stop spot to go to for information for the

2026 year. It includes staff names, important dates, fee information and much more.

Most of what is in the Parent Handbook will not be new to existing parents. However, I wish to

highlight two changes and explain them. The parent handbook can be viewed via this link: https://www.rskingspark.catholic.edu.au/s/2026-Parent-Handbook.pdf

Change one - 2026 Timetable (Changes are highlighted)- Taken from the staff handbook

8:15am  School gates open for student arrival

8:30am Classrooms open for students and parents

8:40am - 8:45am Students in class; Prayer and attendance

8:45am - 10:45am 1st Learning & Teaching Session (9:45am fruit/healthy snack break)

10:45am - 11:15am Break 1 (no food outside)

11:15am - 11:20am Line up and enter classrooms

11:20am - 11:22am Christian Meditation

11:22am - 11:30am Eating in class

11:30am – 1:30pm 2nd Learning & Teaching Session

1:30pm - 2:00pm Break 2 (no food outside)

2:00pm - 2:05pm Line up and enter classrooms

2:05pm - 2:15pm Christian Meditation/Eating time in class

2:15pm - 3:10pm 3rd Learning & Teaching Session

3:10pm - 3:15pm Prayer and reflection

3:15pm Dismissal

3:30pm Supervision ends; remaining students brought to foyerwsletter for full details.

The change here is that we are moving the eating times to after the breaks. Current thinking is that students are rushing food to get to play and not eating properly and that eating helps our students to re-focus after breaks. The later eating really means that the healthy fruit snack break becomes important at 9.45am. I will give you some feedback about how this is going for us and seek some feedback through the School Advisory Council about how this change is going for parents and students

Change Two - Line Up spots 2026

There has been a change to line up spots for 2026 for end of break times to ensure a calmer line up. This will be a focus for 2026. To make things easier we will also use this line up for the mornings as well.

Year Prep remain in the same spot as 2025

Year 1/2 ‘s have moved to the back of the Year 1/2 building

Year 3-6 are all in a row in the courtyard. This map is far easier to see in the parent handbook.

Students have already practised this on transition days. We will be out there to help on day one with directions.

Best wishes

Deputy Principal

Thank you!

Thank you for your kind words and wishes I have received in relation to my appointment as Acting Principal at St Mary’s for 2026. I really appreciate the thoughts and congratulations. I am very excited for the year ahead and will miss the Resurrection community greatly - I will try my best to attend some of our special school and parish events! I am looking forward to hearing and seeing the wonderful growth that takes place for all in 2026. As Adrian mentioned, I will return to my Deputy Principal role at Resurrection in 2027.

Year 6 Staff Vs Students

Our annual staff vs. students matches have taken place and I must say, they were quite entertaining and had everyone on the edge of their seats. Our first game was the soccer match last week in Week 8 and today was the basketball match. See some of the action shots from the soccer match below!

Important Update: Transition from Operoo to nForma

We would like to inform you that Operoo will cease by the end of January 2026. As mentioned in our previous newsletter, moving forward we will be using nForma as our new platform to send out all correspondence that requires a parent response. This includes notices regarding excursions, camps, and any other communication where your input is needed.

To support you during this transition, we have attached a Parent Guideline to this newsletter. We kindly ask that you take the time to read through the document and familiarise yourself with the new portal.

Logging into the nPortal App is simple. There are multiple ways that you can login into the app. The main thing to remember is to ensure that the email being used to login, is the same email that is linked to the school. If unsure, please contact the office and they can assist you.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we move to this new system, which will streamline communication and ensure a more efficient process for both staff and families.

Thank you for your attention to this important update.

SUNDAY GOSPEL

Second Sunday of Advent, 2025

We Reflect

As the journey of Advent continues, as we prepare to celebrate the nativity of Christ, John the Baptist's call to conversion sounds out in our communities. It is a pressing invitation to open our hearts and to welcome the Son of God Who comes among us to make divine judgement manifest. The Father, writes St. John the Evangelist, does not judge anyone, but has entrusted the power of judgement to the Son, because He is the Son of man.

“And it is today, in the present, that we decide our future destiny. It is with our concrete everyday behavior in this life that we determine our eternal fate. At the end of our days on earth, at the moment of death, we will be evaluated on the basis of our likeness or otherwise to the Baby Who is about to be born in the poor grotto of Bethlehem, because He is the measure God has given humanity.

“Through the Gospel John the Baptist continues to speak down the centuries to each generation. His hard clear words bring health to us, the men and women of this day in which even the experience and perception of Christmas often, unfortunately, reflects materialist attitudes. The 'voice' of the great prophet asks us to prepare the way for the coming Lord in the deserts of today, internal and external deserts, thirsting for the water of life which is Christ.” — Benedict XVI

We Read

John the Baptist appeared, preaching in the desert of Judea and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!"

It was of him that the prophet Isaiah had spoken when he said: A voice of one crying out in the desert, Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths.

John wore clothing made of camel's hair

and had a leather belt around his waist.

His food was locusts and wild honey.

At that time Jerusalem, all Judea,

and the whole region around the Jordan

were going out to him and were being baptized by him in the Jordan River as they acknowledged their sins.

When he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, "You brood of vipers!

Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? Produce good fruit as evidence of your repentance. And do not presume to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.'

For I tell you,

God can raise up children to Abraham from these stones. Even now the ax lies at the root of the trees. Therefore every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. I am baptizing you with water, for repentance, but the one who is coming after me is mightier than I.

I am not worthy to carry his sandals.

He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

His winnowing fan is in his hand.

He will clear his threshing floor and gather his wheat into his barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire."

The Gospel of the Lord

Praise to You Lord Jesus Christ
