Term 4 Week 4 of 11
Friday, 30th October 2026
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
As Matt Dalton has said in his section below. Today is “World Teachers Day”. I also want to thank and celebrate all the staff that make up our wonderful school. A huge thanks to our office and finance staff, our Learning Support Officers, our teachers, our leaders, our maintenance people and all staff for what they do.
This ode to teachers is for our staff as it talks about the positive effect our staff have on children.
In classrooms bright where futures start,
You build a bridge from mind to heart.
With patient grace and steady eyes,
You help the hesitant arise.
You see the spark within the stone,
And guide the hands that work alone.
Through thorny doubts and tangled fears,
Your quiet faith outlasts the years.
No grand awards or public praise
Can match the magic of your days
When hidden strengths begin to grow,
And sudden currents start to flow.
You write your name on tomorrow's page,
A quiet force upon the stage.
A reminder that this Monday, 2nd November is a student free day, and Tuesday, 3rd November is a public holiday. See you all on Wednesday, 4th November
Best Wishes,
Deputy Principal
World Teacher’s Day - Friday 30th October
This week, we acknowledge World Teachers’ Day – a special opportunity to give thanks for the dedicated teachers, learning support officers and school leaders who serve our community with faith, compassion and commitment. Teaching in a Catholic school is more than a profession – it is a vocation and a ministry of service. Each day, our staff live out our school’s mission by nurturing the hearts, minds and spirits of our students. Through their words and actions, they share the light of Christ and inspire our children to grow in knowledge, faith and love. We are deeply grateful for the countless ways our teachers and support staff care for our students – guiding learning, fostering creativity, and walking alongside each child on their learning journey. Their dedication, patience and joy make a lasting difference in the lives of our children and families. On behalf of our school community, we offer our heartfelt thanks and blessings to all our staff. May God continue to guide and strengthen you in your important work
and know how valued and appreciated you are! Happy World Teachers’ Day to our wonderful staff – and thank you for all that you do in the spirit of faith, hope and love.
Religious Education
Happy ‘All Hallows Eve’ (Oct 31)!
Today on the Feast of All Hallows Eve, we prepare for the upcoming days in which we celebrate LIGHT that conquers darkness, and that Jesus overcame death! We celebrate this through the Feasts of All Saints (Nov 1) and All Souls Day (Nov 2).
Some etymology: All Hallows Eve - secularly called ‘Halloween’, is the vigil before these important feasts. Hallow, which means ‘Holy’ is another term we use to refer to Saints. They are Holy people, and thus the day is also known as All Hallows Day. All Hallows Evening (e’en) is the day before which we prepare for through prayer and spiritual preparation.
Tips on how to celebrate the upcoming hallow days:
Attend Mass (Saturday 6pm, Sunday 9am and 10:30am at Resurrection!)
Learn about the Saints!
Dress as a saint!
Visit loved ones who have died
Offer prayers for those who have died
PRAYER FOR ALL SAINTS AND ALL SOULS DAY
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they and all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
All you Holy Martyrs, pray for us!
All you Holy Saints of God, Pray for us!
Best Wishes,
Wellbeing, Community & Child Safety

Making Our School Greener with the Container Deposit Scheme!
Our school is excited to be taking part in Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme (CDS), turning everyday recycling into an opportunity to make a positive difference in our school community and environment!
In just ONE WEEK, we have already collected TWO BIG BAGS full of eligible drink containers! This is a fantastic start, and we are so proud of our students for helping spread the word and encouraging everyone to get involved.
Through this initiative, we are collecting eligible drink containers and returning them to earn a 10-cent refund for each container. The money raised will go towards making our school a greener place, supporting future sustainability projects and helping us create a more environmentally friendly school for everyone.
Would you like to help us make a difference? We warmly invite our families and wider community to collect eligible containers for our school. Every bottle and can counts, and even a small contribution can make a big difference when we work together!
Thank you to everyone who has supported our initiative so far. Together, we can reduce waste, encourage recycling and turn our rubbish into resources for a greener future!
SUNDAY GOSPEL
All Saints
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew 5;1-12
We Reflect
Saints are sometimes regarded as ‘Catholic superheroes’. Stories of miraculous and remarkable deeds abound, though more in the vein of conversions and cures than speeding bullets and tall buildings. But to get caught up on the Saints of the stained glass windows is to overlook the vast majority of saints. You see, a saint is anybody whose soul is in heaven. The Church celebrates a certain number of Saints whose lives provide a glimpse of God for the rest of the Church. But there are many, many more saints whose glimpse of God was only ever experienced by their family, friends and those with whom they worked. The feast of ALL Saints is an opportunity to remember and reflect on the lives of those saints who’ve been known and loved by just a few and whose sphere of influence was such that they will never be recognised as Saints by the universal Church.
Today’s gospel, the Beatitudes, from the Sermon on the Mount describes perfectly those ‘lower case s’ saints we celebrate on this feast day. The Beatitudes are sometimes referred to in parallel with the Ten Commandments. However, the Beatitudes are not ‘rules’ or ‘instructions’ for life as the Commandments are. They are more in line with a strategy that today we would call ‘positive reinforcement’. They celebrate those who respond to God’s call through particular attitudes towards life and towards others. Jesus presents them to the disciples and the crowd as images to inspire imitation. They’re not hard and fast rules for life, but attitudes for life; the Be-Attitudes, so to speak. Those who live with these attitudes in this life are to be celebrated – ‘Happy are you’ – for they will be saints. They will be welcomed into communion with God in heaven.
REFLECTION by Greg Sunter
We Read
Seeing the crowds, Jesus went up the hill. There he sat down and was joined by his disciples. Then he began to speak. This is what he taught them:
‘How happy are the poor in spirit:
theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Happy the gentle:
they shall have the earth for their heritage.
Happy those who mourn:
they shall be comforted.
Happy those who hunger and thirst for what is right:
they shall be satisfied.
Happy the merciful:
they shall have mercy shown them.
Happy the pure in heart:
they shall see God.
Happy the peacemakers:
they shall be called sons of God.
Happy those who are persecuted in the cause of right:
theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
‘Happy are you when people abuse you and persecute you and speak all kinds of calumny against you on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven.’
Praise to You Lord Jesus Christ

St Vinnies Christmas Appeal
The St Vincent de Paul Society will once again be collecting gifts and hamper items for families in need this Christmas.
From Saturday 7th November to Friday 27th November, gift tags will be displayed on boards located at the back of the Piety Store. The tags will indicate either a boy or girl, generally aged between 5 and 12 years, with a small number of tags for 13 and 14-year-olds.
We invite parishioners to take a tag, purchase a suitable gift, and return the unwrapped gift to the church or parish office by 27 November.
We are also gratefully accepting donations of non-perishable food items for our Christmas hampers.
Thank you for your generosity and support in helping bring joy to families in need this Christmas
Christ the King
Since 1925 the universal Church has celebrated the 35th and last Sunday of Ordinary Time with the Feast of Christ the King. Over the past years we, as a parish, have celebrated this feast with a distinct Samoan flavour.
It gives us an opportunity as a parish to recognise and celebrate with our parishioners who trace their origins back to Samoa. The celebrations will be at our 10.30am Mass on Sunday 22nd November, lunch afterwards.
Remembrance Book
Our Remembrance Book holds the names of loved ones who have passed away, allowing us to keep them in our prayers, especially throughout the month of November. If there is someone you would like to include, you are warmly invited to add their name.
