Term 4 Week 5 of 11

Friday, 6th November 2026

Message from the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

2026 is really flying and it’s hard to believe we have less than two months until Christmas and about 5 weeks left of school for 2026. Today we welcomed our new Preps for 2027 for the first official time to our school, at the first of their four orientations. It’s always exciting to see the next group of students that will be coming through our school and a little sad as we come to the realisation that our wonderful Year 6 students will be leaving us soon.

This year our 2027 Year 1-6 students will also be given 3 opportunities to meet their 2027 teacher. This will give increased opportunity for them to get to know their teacher and classmates and build positive relationships. These transition sessions will take place on:

-Week 7 Monday 16th November - 9.00am-10.45 am

-Week 8 Monday 23rd November - 9.00am-10.45am

-Week 9 Friday 4th December - 9.00am-10.45am

There’s lots going on in terms of preparation for 2027 including:

  • Class groupings

  • School Calendars

  • Teacher Placement

I will begin sharing information about 2027 in upcoming newsletters.

Just a reminder to all parents that your children need to wear a hat during both breaks while at school and while participating in PE and any other activities. Students not wearing hats will have to play in the shaded area. The sun is getting strong and they need a hat for protection.

A message to School Advisory Council members that I’ve had to move our next meeting from Wednesday 12th November to Wednesday 19th November at 7pm due to a clash with another meeting.

Best Wishes,

Deputy Principal

Today we welcomed our 2027 Prep students on the first of four transition sessions. This is such a special and exciting time for our newest Resurrection superstars and their 2027 teachers. We welcome these students back on Friday 13th, Friday 20th and Friday 27th November where they will continue getting to know our wonderful school and begin to build relationships with each other and our staff. Our car park may be slightly busier on these mornings so thank you in advance for your patience and flexibility as those new families navigate our car park and processes. For those who are new to our school or are interested, please see our car park protocols with videos included on our Resurrection website.

Reminder- Nforma Connect

We have noticed that many families are having trouble receiving notifications and signing permission slips for excursions. A reminder:

Nforma has migrated to a new app, and the original "Nforma for Parents" app will no longer work. All parents and carers are required to download the new app, Nforma Connect. This app is essential, as we will use it for student reports and permission slips.

Nice and simple

Logging into the nPortal App is nice and simple. There are multiple ways that you can login to the App. The main thing to remember is to ensure that the email being used to login, is the email that is linked with the school. If you are unsure of which email address is linked to the school, please ask the office.

Be sure to turn on notifications via the app settings on your phone!

Previous Reports

To view your child’s assessment reports, simply choose the selected child’s profile and the Report tile. You will then be presented with all the available reports for your child. Click on “download”, they will now download to your device where you can view them. This feature is useful for families transitioning to high school, where a copy of a previous report is sometimes requested.

We hope these steps allow families to access all of the features on the Nforma Connect app.

St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal

As we begin to approach the end of the year and look forward to Christmas, for members in our community that are less fortunate than us it means a time of greater stress.

This year, our school will be supporting our community by collecting donations of non-perishable items on behalf of our Parish’s

St. Vincent De Paul Conference.

Some examples of some non-perishable items are:

A basket will be placed in each Year Level area, where families are welcome to bring in a non-perishable item to be donated via the Parish. This donation drive will go until Wednesday 25th of November as our Vinnies group needs time to create hampers to send to families in need.

All our St Vinnie’s members will represent each of you as they deliver these generous resources on your behalf. We would like to extend our gratitude and thanks for your continuous support.

Best Wishes,

THE PROBLEM-SOLVING WHEEL

The year 5 & 6 leaders are behind this wonderful creation that will help our students independently resolve small, everyday conflicts (like minor arguments,  sharing equipment, winning and losing, etc ) If they come home with a school problem, ask them if they used the Problem Solving Wheel?

  • Talk it out: Calmly discuss what happened and how to fix it.

  • Name It - say - ‘Stop! I don’t like it when you …. It makes me feel …

  • Clarify the situation: Ask questions - What you see or hear may not be true.

  • Share and take turns: Split time with an item or game.

  • Make a deal: Compromise or find a fair trade.

  • Walk away and let it go: Leave the situation before it grows larger.

  • Ignore it: Pay no attention to minor annoyances.

  • Apologize: Say sorry if you made a mistake.

  • Talk to an Adult:  Sometimes you need an adult to intervene.

  • Go to another activity: Switch games or move to a different area.

Colour Run

We are excited to share that we will be holding a Colour Fun Run on Friday, 27th November.

Parents are warmly invited to attend this exciting event and cheer on the students as they take part in the fun!

All children are to wear a white t-shirt and get ready for some colour fun.

Today we held our first Second-Hand Uniform Stall!

We are pleased to let our families know that the stall will now be available on the first Friday of every month from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm in the courtyard.

A friendly reminder to families that if you have any pre-loved school uniforms that are no longer needed, we would greatly appreciate your donations to the school.

Your generous contributions help support our school community and provide families with access to affordable second-hand uniforms.

Thank you for your ongoing support!

On Friday, the 30th of October, the middle school ventured off to Science works as part of their Inquiry unit, “What’s the Matter?”

Our Grade 3-4 students had an exciting visit, where they explored the fascinating world of states of matter! Through hands-on activities and interactive displays, students investigated the properties of solids, liquids and gases, discovering how materials behave and how they can change from one state to another. It was a fantastic opportunity to bring our classroom learning to life, spark curiosity and develop our skills as young scientists!

Learning Diversity

PSGS Term 4

We look forward to welcoming families to their final Parent Support Group (PSG) meetings for 2026, taking place during Weeks 7 and 8 of this term.

Families are reminded that appointments must be booked using the booking link previously emailed to families which closes on 9th Nov.

Please note that PSG meetings will proceed as scheduled, regardless of parent/carer attendance, as teaching staff have been allocated release time to facilitate these meetings. If you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment, the meeting will still take place, and a copy of the meeting minutes will be emailed to you afterwards.

We value your involvement and look forward to reflecting on your child’s progress, celebrating their achievements and discussing their ongoing learning and support needs.

Welcome

This week, we are delighted to welcome Thin Dik to our school community! Thin will be completing 100 hours of practical placement as part of her Learning Support Officer (LSO) training. Throughout the remainder of the term, Thin will be working alongside our wonderful staff and students in the Junior School, gaining valuable hands-on experience and developing her skills in supporting student learning and wellbeing. We are excited to have Thin join us and look forward to making her feel welcome as part of our school community!

SUNDAY GOSPEL

Thirty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew 25:1-13

We Reflect

This week’s gospel starts out as a Kingdom parable and becomes a bit more of a metaphor for living a Christian life.

The gospel parable relates to ten bridesmaids – five foolish and five wise – who are participating in a wedding ritual that involves meeting the bridegroom and escorting him the last part of his way to the wedding reception. The foolish bridesmaids have not brought sufficient reserves of oil for their lamps and have to leave at the critical time to try to obtain more. When they eventually arrive at the reception hall they are turned away because they have shamed themselves as well as the bride and groom by not fulfilling their duty.

Some of the original audience of Matthew’s gospel, along with many of the early Christian followers, had an expectation that Jesus was going to return and usher in the end of the world in their lifetime. The message of this gospel is captured in Jesus’ final words, ‘So stay awake, because you do not know either the day or the hour.’ The timing of Jesus’ coming cannot be predicted and so all Christian believers, like the bridesmaids, need to continue to act with hope and expectation; being prepared for the fact that it may be further off than anticipated. Many early Christians were living their lives as though the world would end at any time. The gospel warns them, and us, to continue to follow the example of Jesus and not to become complacent – expecting that everything is about to come to an end.

REFLECTION by Greg Sunter

We Read

Jesus told this parable to his disciples: ‘The kingdom of heaven will be like this: Ten bridesmaids took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five of them were sensible: the foolish ones did take their lamps, but they brought no oil, whereas the sensible ones took flasks of oil as well as their lamps. The bridegroom was late, and they all grew drowsy and fell asleep. But at midnight there was a cry, “The bridegroom is here! Go out and meet him.” At this, all those bridesmaids woke up and trimmed their lamps, and the foolish ones said to the sensible ones, “Give us some of your oil: our lamps are going out.” But they replied, “There may not be enough for us and for you; you had better go to those who sell it and buy some for yourselves.” They had gone off to buy it when the bridegroom arrived. Those who were ready went in with him to the wedding hall and the door was closed. The other bridesmaids arrived later. “Lord, Lord,” they said, “open the door for us.” But he replied, “I tell you solemnly, I do not know you.” So stay awake, because you do not know either the day or the hour.’

Praise to You Lord Jesus Christ

St Vinnies Christmas Appeal

The St Vincent de Paul Society will once again be collecting gifts and hamper items for families in need this Christmas.

From Saturday 7th November to Friday 27th November, gift tags will be displayed on boards locted at the back of the Piety Store. The tags will indicate either a boy or girl, generally aged between 5 and 12 years, with a small number of tags for 13 and 14-year-olds.
We invite parishioners to take a tag, purchase a suitable gift, and return the unwrapped gift to the church or parish office by 27 November.
We are also gratefully accepting donations of non-perishable food items for our Christmas hampers.
Thank you for your generosity and support in helping bring joy to families in need this Christmas

Christ the King

Since 1925 the universal Church has celebrated the 35th and last Sunday of Ordinary Time with the Feast of Christ the King. Over the past years we, as a parish, have celebrated this feast with a distinct Samoan flavour.

It gives us an opportunity as a parish to recognise and celebrate with our parishioners who trace their origins back to Samoa. The celebrations will be at our 10.30am Mass on Sunday 22nd November, lunch afterwards.

Remembrance Book

Mass of Anointing of the Sick
All parishioners are warmly invited to attend the Mass of Anointing of the Sick at Resurrection Church on Saturday, 12 December at 10:00am.

During this special Mass, the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick will be offered to those who are experiencing illness, frailty due to age, or are preparing for surgery. Through this sacrament, we pray for God's healing, strength, comfort, and peace.

Thank You, Dinner for Ministry Volunteers,
As we approach the end of another wonderful year, we invite all parishioners involved in any ministry to join us for a Thank You Dinner in appreciation for your generous service to our parish community.
